California 1850s gold rush…300,000 came, 100,000 actually mined and panned for gold, but the real winners were the outfitters like Levi Strauss and the bankers, of course.

You do not need useless employees. Especially they are not creative, Only they are good on complaining and gossips. Instead of being more productive and innovative of something real, they became innovative on fake news and gossip. Wow! what a skill. Just my opinion.

In basements and garages - is exactly how the tech companies act lmao - it's to attract their base I suppose. But it is hilarious 🙃

You're in really good physical shape if you've been in tech for 30 years, aside from the rabies thing.

Meta/FB has a COO. 2008-2022 Sheryl Sandberg was COO and the experienced big sister in the room....so did Mark put too much trust in her day to day operations after they became public? The COO has to have a level of responsibility for the state of Meta if they hire too many people or still operate like a startup. The CEO has to trust the COO and I think Mark let Sheryl do as she saw fit and consequently she became a celebrity as a COO which is rare compared to a Celebrity CEO...

My neighbor works in tech & has been talking about lay offs within his current company, but he could care less, he’s retired military with full VA benefits, so he’s not hurting for anything, the company he works for doesn’t know any of this and are wondering why he’s the only employee that doesn’t seem to be phased about any of it. I personally hate companies like that, who relish in watching their people squirm & suffer, rather than just get it over with

You're disconnected from any reality. Every team in big tech understands their "numbers". Every competent engineer in FAANG, let alone executive, can exactly recite not only KPIs for their company, but also their team, how their team drives these metrics, and how they contributed to them last year. I don't know who you're talking to, but they aren't engineers at Meta.

One of the craziest things is a lot of us in tech and marketing are flying blind, due to the companies having laid off business analytics professionals and leaving us without the necessary dashboards and information to attribute our efforts to ROI and direct revenue streams. This is what happened at my last position, which sucked because we couldn't gain the data needed to properly A/B test things or change our direction — if our hypotheses weren't proven correct. Sometimes I think they purposely sandbag teams they don't like or under-resource them, which means they'll inevitably be axed when the quarterly layoffs happen.

They're either laying off in preparation for the bubble popping into a massive explosion or they're laying off because they need more funding for AI for a few months. Can't wait until they shed all their employees and realize AI isn't manifesting so they simply keel over and die as companies.

Not really, they still add new hires every year since 2022.

They do realize why they hired so much right? It wasn’t for writing software, it was to suppress competition.
