Meta is alerting thousands of employees that they’re being laid off, part of a previously announced restructuring aimed at reducing costs while the company invests heavily in artificial intelligence. The company began notifying workers around the world Wednesday morning, starting with employees across Asia, who got the note at 4 a.m. Singapore time. US-based staff are also expected to receive word during their morning, according to an internal memo. What's tragic about this story is that so many people chose to work for a person with Asperger's who thanks to his disability treats stepping on a blade of grass and taking away livelihood from thousands of people as one and the same. And I'm not talking about 1,000, or even 5,000 people. It will be dozens of thousands by the time Meta is finally done for. Just ask the thousands who already lost their jobs when this guy shut down his Metaverse project he once swore by and now no longer remembers nor even cares about. He actually renamed the entire company to Meta because Metaverse was the "wave of the future" according to him. This country better sober up soon and change its ways to require that CEOs of major companies employing large numbers of people pass a cognitive fitness exam prior to moving into the corner office on the top floor. And Asperger's has to be at the very top of the disqualifying list for the same reason bipolar disorder or severe personality disorders are automatic disqualifiers for airline pilots.
