how does shaw have 12 months to prove himself but martinez can go if the price is right?
You seem to forget that De Lit is and has always been better than Maguire aerially in even every situation except marginally very marginally worse at defensive set pieces.
Dalot’s biggest asset is by far is tactical awareness. When Dalot starts we are much more fluid because he can overlap, underlap, get into midfield, build or make runs like a striker. Obviously he’s not amazing at shooting and could definitely improve his crossing but he’s a good player. His engine is also very underrated
If De Ligt is back to full fitness next season and is playing to the same level he did the first half of this past season, he is gonna solve so many of the issues we're struggling with when thinking about the backline next season. It seems like he's not gonna be back in training until late summer though. And having missed so many months of football, he's gonna need a bit of time before he's fully fit. So I kinda doubt we'll see him play before October or something. Hopefully I misunderstood the statement from when they said he had surgery, and they meant he would be fully fit and ready to play in August.
There is no world in which Maguire should stay. His injury record is not better than De Lit or Martinez's. He's forces us to defend deeper or regular risk a red card on the break (3 times playing deep under Carrick already). His strengths are; not allowing the opposition to go long (we still have De Lit and Heaven and we're signing better duelers for the second ball. And defending deep where the most important part of next season, is playing higher with creative risk taking football to stamp our authority on the mid table to smaller teams. Furthermore if you wanted a similar profile you could just get Senesi on free with the same wages. Who would do the majority of what Maguire can but with much better mobility, top of the league ball playing and he actually scores goals from set pieces.
Idk why we aren't dropping Dorgu back to LB , cause what hurts us most is that our left side we don't have an overlapping runner for Cunha
Cunha and Lemmans are both build around imo. Cunha is good enough to score 20goals with an overlapping lb like Hall. Remember when he had aint Nouri at wolves
Yeah he. Oils be our starter cb depending on fitness
Lemmens is the signing of the season
Don’t know how much academy football anyones watched but we’ve a couple of good centre backs especially Albert mills love the name
Agreed on Dalot. I think he's been suffering with having to play out of position a lot, and also the system changes. He strikes me as someone that needs a bit of continuity for us the get the best out of him. He seems to no be a very quick learner shall we say. But when he's finding his form and gets to play a similar role week in and week out, he's a realy good RB. The massive hate he's getting on social mediaa has always been baffling to me. Sure it's annoying that it seems impossible for him to put the ball in the net. But Luke Shaw just scored his first goal in 3 years. Dalot is constantly getting himself into positions where he can score or otherwise help the attack. His overlapping runs are exceptional.
De Ligt and Martinez fit and in form is for sure a CB partnership that is title charge capable.
I think a fit de ligt and a 2 year on heaven would be a great centre back pairing
Thing with backs it doesn’t go away Rio still has trouble with his , get him fit and get rid but no one will have him so it’s going to an end of contract job
My personal list Out: Onana, Bayindir, Malacia, Casemiro, Ugarte, Mount, Rashford, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Sancho In: Vitek, Anderson, Baleba, Fernandes, LB, LW, older striker, some other academy graduates
His size doesn’t worry me at all he’s intelligent and he’s aggressive
If we decide to go for a LW instead of an overlapping LB, we could potentially go for Schlotterbeck (at least if the rumors about his release clause aree true and he doesn't renew his contract) for 30M. He could then play as an inverting LB, and be bckup to the LCB spot if Martinez is out. The alternative is to actually sell Martinez and go for Schlotterbeck as the straight replacement LCB and also buy an overlapping LB (like Hall maybe). I can't even decide which of these scenarios I would prefere. But I think this is the summer to get Schlotterbeck or we're never gonna get him I think.
Lewa’s wages would be insane and
Ive heard somewhere Mazraoui considered more CB than RB now.
AJ thats exactly how i felt when arsenal won the league😂. At first it was like God please 😢. Then when they won it, i literally felt nothing but respect
