At the weekend Elliot Anderson produced a midfield masterclass at Old Trafford, something that I would love to see more regularly next season! So what made this performance so good? Imagine Anderson, Baleba and Matheus Fernandes. Anderson can play with kobbie but also can play with Baleba. Baleba and kobbie rotate the LCM and Matheus and Anderson rotate de RCM
Anderson is a baller. There's no arguing that. But here's the thing about his "masterclass" against us... He was part of a midfield that got absolutely eviscerated by United to the tune of 29 shots, 8 big chances, 3 goals (could have been 6 or 7), and a loss. Plenty of ways to rationalize that away, but if he's playing in the United midfield next season and we're watching that happen to us... we won't be cheering his accumulation of stats. And all the pundits singing his praises right now will be asking why our midfield doesn't have more positional discipline. We are winning games, right now, against the best teams in the league...with a Casemiro profile in the midfield. It doesn't mean that we can't, or shouldn't, change how we play... but if we don't actually replace Case, we need to be eyes wide open that that's what we're doing.
I still believe Anderson can't play the 6 role against elite teams, he likes to move forward alot playing him with mainoo won't work. If United sign him United still needs to sign a 6 like Tchouaméni or Tonali
Him and Matheus Fernandes
Spend the 180 mil on him and Tonali
80m? Sure 125m? Over my dead body
Putting Martinez in the starting 11 in this day and age is criminal especially when we have Heaven, our best defender. Licha is overrated
Would love him. He would be our most important signing
Forest were so open in the transition that Utd had 29 shots and a massive xG. Casemiro was brought in to stop the midfield getting totally bypassed by the opposition and to a large degree he did that. Replacing him with Anderson would leave massive holes that Kobbie can’t cover and our forward line give the ball away too often. He may form a partnership with Kobbie but a better midfield is to play Mainoo or Anderson with a proper 6 next to them. Scoring goals wasn’t that much of a problem this season but we conceded way too many, weakening our defensive capabilities to make us even more attacking makes no sense. Would I buy Anderson? Yes. But I would pick and choose the games he plays with Kobbie and the ones he plays instead of Kobbie next to a specialist 6. I don’t see Anderson as a Casemiro replacement at all. Casemiro could drop into the back line, win defensive headers, smell danger, and provide know how and leadership in front of the back line. That’s a lot to lose on a vanity player. Utd need that profile of player to disrupt the opposition more than they need Anderson. In an ideal world we could go out and buy Tchouameni and Anderson then a cheaper back up to Tchouameni to give us a little depth.
Kobbie Mainoo has improved significantly in his defending this season alone. The time out of the team was used effectively, even if it didn’t yield a route back in under Amorim. Carrick knows his qualities and put him back in, but did that with confidence that the midfield wasn’t going to be overrun. That couldn’t just be a change in formation that did that. There had to be player improvements, and Kobbie has shown that since January. City being a slightly less appealing choice without the big-time manager may be a saving grace in trying to get Anderson, but he’s going to be moving for nine-figures, and that’s frightening. It doesn’t leave a lot of money for another signing in midfield, and when you’re wanting people with PL experience, that could be very difficult. Fernandes from West Ham is a good player, but will West Ham settle for £50m from us? I’d be inclined to believe no, they’ll go to the highest bidder and there’s some big bidders out there.
I love Anderson to the core but I think him with Mainoo is a concern, they are both kind of a 8 not a 6. England match was an example how they both together don’t work that well.
Both Kobbie and Anderson need a 6 to play with.. carrick is not a 433 coach. I like him and hope we need him but playing both kobbie and Andersson may not be as smooth as we think it'll be. We may still leak defensively.
Since Southampton is out of Championship playoff, Shea Charles will be a gigantic coup! Do analyse him!
Jst get me mateus f,Anderson's and tonali,Elliot's transfer transfer is Abit complicated if we are being honest..
well, we do have two specialist midfielders already, in Bruno being a specialist AM, and Mainoo being specialist CM(with his unique abilities). What we need now is an all-rounder, and that’s what Elliot is, we don’t need a Traditional DM like Casemiro to avoid getting ran through, we had Casemiro under ten hag when our midfield was non-existent. Even under Carrick, Casemiro is not sitting deeper than Mainoo, Mainoo sits, Casemiro goes up ahead to tackle, intercept, Elliot will do all of these even to greater extent. We need to evolve with time, and Carrick himself said this, when he explained his preference for PSG midfield, he also said recently we don’t have to replace Casemiro “like for like”
His leftsidedness, u know who loves to drift right mostly? Mateus Fernandes n we are getting him.
Ederson, M Fernandez and Anderson 🔥
Do you spend 100 plus for one player or look for depth in potential or experience with at least 6 players we will need for the extra games next year because our bench had nothing
Anderson £80 Baleba £60 Fernandes £50
Anderson could be as important for united like rice is to Arsenal but I would be happy if we get Tonali and tchouameni with Mateus Fernandes for 30 million.
