Its not "finally make it click". Maresca was making it click anyway. He thumped both PSG and Barcelona 3-0 within a couple of months and was within 5 points of top on PL table for most of his time this season. The directors him up for failure by not signing a replacement for Colwill and instead signing Garnacho who doesn't fit Maresca system at all.

Alonso is quite literally perfect when you consider the profile of players we have and who will be coming in over the summer, a three of Palmer Estevao and Pedro inter changing has me drooling! And it does away with the need for wingers, an area which has probably the least depth and which is contributed very little for the last two seasons.

That's a smart analysis but if Enzo Fernández leaves which I don't want him to, shouldn't they play James at midfield because he could unleash his playmaking and is physical too along with Caicedo on the area. Maybe Acheampong could play as a RCB which might fit the system but a bit more physical

I think Sanchez may end up getting “Joe Harted” in that Alonso may want a different profile of GK more comfortable in possession. In defence- a 3 of Colwill, James and Hato risks a lack of aerial ability especially on set pieces. Think Colwill is capable of playing the LCB role and Chelsea could bring in another CB. Fofana can also play RCB if we want James further forward. I don’t think Cucurella and Gusto as WBs gives enough attacking players in the final third. Can see Quenda or Neto playing WB against lesser sides.
