A lot of luxury watches are part of an artificial prestige bubble where people are willing to pay millions for products that are truly worth hundreds of dollars. Naturally, the industry fights hard to protect that image and reputation, all the millions from their profites will go to protect this artifial prestige since they know there is nothing real backing it up.

Except watches AREN'T cars. They're not houses. Watches are accessories that you wear to look nice. One is an overpriced piece of art, and the other is a nearly identicial piece of art that costs 10X, maybe even 100X less. You'd need a Jerwelry loop and a trained eye to tell them apart. Sure, some watches are an investment. Their value appreciates over time. But lets not pretend that value is the driving force for most people, when purchasing an expensive watch.

Why would you buy a Rolex for 20+k if you can buy a super replica that costs like 500$.. Like for real, why would you buy it if the sales guys from the official store can't tell the difference without opening the watch. U can't buy BMW 5 serie for 5% of the price of M5, few months ago I bought 540xd 25" and it cost me with a very nice discount lil less then 85k€ and M5 was like 140k €, and basically I could go for used M5 with really small mileage for lil over 100k€ So, the comparison between M5 and 5 series is not really a good one... And you still don't have a real reason to buy a Rolex watch in an official store over the super clone watch!
