Since they made the mistake with the three point shot I Googled who was the first black player in the NBA: Earl Lloyd made history as the first Black player to play in an NBA game, taking the court for the Washington Capitols on October 31, 1950.Shortly after Lloyd broke the color barrier, two other pioneering Black players made their NBA debuts that same week:Chuck Cooper: Drafted by the Boston Celtics.Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton: Signed with the New York Knicks. The Rochester Royals ( now the Sacramento Kings) won the NBA championship in the 1950-1951 season. But both for a few years before and a few years afterwards it was the Minneapolis Lakers that dominated the NBA. The New York Knicks did not beat the Indianapolis Olympians to get into the NBA finals. One of the first black players, Nat Clifton, did play for the New York Knicks, they lost to the Rochester Royals for the championship in the 1950-1951 season.
