Welcome to Serving Scandalous, today we react to four stories: a married couple with an increasingly violent, severely autistic 8-year-old considers giving up custody to the state, noting improved safety and family connection for their 16-year-old; a woman describes her boyfriend’s mother copying her and making explicit sexual comments, leading to boundary-setting and ultimately cutting ties after the mom lashes out; a wealthy family’s adoption arrangement is disrupted when the sister financially helps the pregnant mother keep her baby, calling the initial approach predatory; and a man estranged from his brother after sleeping with his girlfriend is later asked to donate sperm, refuses, and learns the affair was revenge for his brother’s cheating. I’m with James in story 2. Nip that thing in the bud directly.
I agree with James on Story #2. Tell the boyfriend directly “your mama is weird and I’m not coming around” lol. I really think the mama is in competition with her or really wants to be like her.
Story 1. Heartbreaking. I believe I heard an update that family plans to continue to be in child’s life and visit. Just that child requires more support and services parents can give.
Story #1 NTA. I have a son who's Level 1 autistic and his needs are nowhere near that, but I understand how you've came to this decision... and I feel like unless you've been in this kind of position, it would be nearly impossible to understand.
Story 2 I'm with James. Just rip the bandaid off. LIKE "Babe is your mom ok? She has been doing some weird stuff lately like blah blah blah... Can you check on her to see what's up bc it's making US feel uncomfortable."
Story 2. I’m with James. Say the reason out loud. The bf sees his mom’s behavior. But he needs to know the full impact/consequences. I’m out til he deals with it.
Story 1: NTA. I have a who's not autistic but used to get very violent and easily triggered when he was young. He would literally flip over desks, hit people including teachers, etc. The aggression was out of this world and not normal at all. I tried therapy with him and saw a psychiatrist. None of it worked. Long story short, I prayed and asked God for a solution to the problem that did not involve medicine. Ultimately, my son was delivered from a number of things. He does not act out like that anymore. He's 13 now and has not acted out like that in 3 years. He's been off medication for almost 6 years.
#1. I've had experience with this. Non verbal, violent, unable to care for herself. She was 8 & sent to the state home in Camarillo, CA. Lived there til she died at age 32. Best for all. 💋💋💋👍👍👍♥️💜♥️ solution for all.
Number 1 broke my heart..Im a mom of a level 3 autistic non verbal son and I could not imagine..Thankfully he is the sweetest and has never been violent..NTA cuz no one knows the ins and outs of dealing with your special needs child..Praying hard for this family❤
The child in story 1 should be able to be admitted to a group or residential facility. Then the family will be able to visit her/him there
I love james' peronality..Story #2 he had me cracking up😂😂
My sister had brain damage cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Her 56 birthday is this month on the 28th of May 2026. She died 4:20 2000 it's still hard on me. My mother gave her up when I was about 4 to the state. It was very hard on me and I still believe a lot of it was my stepdad. But my mom claims that she just couldn't care for her anymore the way she needed. This story actually helped me a little bit understand thank you
#4 is a mess, the family are insane.
#3 NTA. Maybe OP could have dealt with family differently. But the mom has a right to keep her child. And Bro/SIL clearly have means to go thru an adoption agency. Kudos on OP for seeing the issue and supporting her. Clearly she wasn’t money hungry given basic cost spreadsheet she gave OP. And- why were they on that FB group to begin with? Definitely shady behavior
#1 NTA , definitely understand. And this is the last option. For those who don’t understand, stop it. If you went through this you would do this as well. It’s difficult but has to happened after you tried everything . They can still visit.
Quote of the day "YA MAMA" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yall are definitely a part of my nervous system regulation❤ GOOD STRESS!
The adoption story got me mad as hell ... I don't think op the asshole , especially if amount the mother was needing is a small amount . And yes originally the mother was not out there looking to adopt , she was looking for other types of help . Got me 🤯
I agree with James for Story #2. The girlfriend needs to tell her boyfriend about how she feels about his mom. Make it plain. He needs to handle his mom. I hollered when James yelled, “Yo mama!” 😂😂😂
I think on story#2 you need to be direct about your feelings about his mom and set boundaries then distance yourself if it keeps happening. Communicate first before you distance yourself.
