She deserved the win not because she's a woman, but because she combined two film formats seamlessly; 65 mm Panavision and Imax, the first time a film was simultaneously shot in both formats.

Edit: What’s amazing is that Rachel Morrison was the first woman ever nominated for cinematography. Then she shot Black Panther for Ryan Coogler and got nominated again. Then again under Ryan Coogler, for Sinners, Autumn became the first woman to actually win it.
How did the PA announcer not know/announce that she was the first woman to ever win the award? Conan had to mention it after the show returned from commercial break.
