I think the Hansel and Gretel monologue hints to the fact that Nikki only loved Bear as a brother, and a friend... If you go back and watch, she seemed more anxious and troubled that he liked her. In her head, it was a dynamic in their friend group that was threatened to be ruined - especially as Sarah, her friend, had a crush on Bear. Moreover, and considering her issues with Ian? It doesn't seem like she was ready to be romantic with anyone, which is probably why she wanted to move. She becomes even more turned off when Bear calls her "Freaky Nikki," which was put into his head deviously by Ian. Anyways, and going back to the Hansel and Gretel story... Nikki is hardwired to think of him as a brother. So, the wish master, or "Freaky Nikki" as calls herself... She's telling a story of lust, and passion... only through the already hardwired subtext of their platonic love. It also plays on the general theme of "love vs. romance." A concept both the wish master "Freaky Nikki," and Bear don't understand. Inde has a point though... And it's often why young men tend to fall hard over the gothy, manic pixie dream girl... they don't really love them. they love the IDEA of them.
watched this movie last night with my boyfriend and left the theater so heavy. Especially the beginning of the possession when they’re having sex, knowing she’s not in control of her body and has to go through what’s happening to her as a viewer. Great film, great actors.
The cat was already dead. Before the wish. She didn’t kill it. Just cooked it after.
I think the real Nikki broke through and made Bear the cat sandwich. She included a picture of herself next to a sleeping bear and wrote “not me” under it 🤔
I don’t think his intention in the end had anything to do with breaking Nikki’s spell. He was attempting to end it because the consequences got too real to ignore and he didn’t want to deal with them
Dang I’m so early that there aren’t any comments, yet! This was a great film. I was NOT expecting it to be.
That's real Nikki who cooks and lunch packs the cat, as an act of revenge. She even adds the Polaroïd to the lunch pack, to make it clear she does not consent to the relationship. Also demon Nikki did not want Bear to leave and go to work, so no point to prepare a lunch pack for him
She did ask him when she went to the car”do you like me tell me now” he had his chance and he blew it
Bear is the accidental villain that ruined several people's lives. This movie was tragic. And so f ing goooood!!!!!!!
Nikki didn’t kill the cat. The cat dies in the first act of the movie long before Nikki is taken over by the wish. How someone came to the conclusion that Nikki killed the cat lets me know either They didn’t watch the movie or they didn’t pay attention. The cat died of an accidental overdose, which was foreshadowing the end of the movie for Bear.
I find it odd how quickly people are labelling Bear a villain. Hes not a good guy, and we shouldnt be rooting for him, but villains plot and plan and are devious in nature. Bear is just a selfish coward, which puts him on the same level as the rest of us. I think thats why people are so quick to call him a villain--it puts him on a different level, but hes not. Hes just a guy with average motivations and average motivating factors (fear, selfishness) making his choices for him, which is why this movie is so terrifying. Loved it
7:00 did you say "cursed object?" Call up jujitsu high!
WTF? 😂😂😂😂 Nikki kills the cat? Maybe watch the movie at least to the opening credits.
Also, not a monkey's paw story. The guy at the shop had his wish and he was perfectly fine. There are other people you meet that had these wishes in their fine. Stop being weird listen to his wish.I wish you loved me more than anyone else loved someone. Take about the insanity and the things people have done and the name of love, munchausen syndrome is a form of love. For the person committing it.... those insane weird words opposed to the guy who's like.Give me a billion dollars show you want money. Here's f****** money no issue there and it should have a f***** u* outcome. If you decide you want, someone's free will
Going to see it again…Exceptional horror! Superb acting! Excellent analysis!
So I loved this movie, I actually want to go and see it again to notice every detail I must have missed the first time!! But just 1 question- I know its not very sexy but where is everyone's family?! The only parent we see is Sara's dad at the music shop. She's waiting to hear about college so these characters I would guess are late teens to twenties. Please correct me or clarify if I'm mistaken. Where is everyone's family?? We never understand why Bear lived with his grandmother. Nikki it's mentioned she's not close with her alive and well dad which is fair enough but where is her Mum?? Does nobody care they haven't seen or heard from while she's shacked up with Bear? When all the violence erupts in the basement at Ian's party, don't his family wonder what's going on or think to check on everyone's well being?? Just wondering if I've missed something!
She didn't kill the cat.
They have NO chemistry 😂 He should have gotten with Sam who actually liked him and had chemistry with him but instead he rather take the free will away from someone who wasnt ever interested in him in that way
Unless I missed something I’m pretty sure Nikki didn’t kill bears cat
You guys noticed he never had a chance wit her because Eaton & Eaton was occasionally sleeping with each other on the low. Remember Eaton was telling Bear he was gonna take Nikki home after work. They was still messing around before she became obsessed
