They've been promo-ing this live translation as a new, exciting feature since the original wired pixel buds in 2017...
I think we aren’t moving fast enough, this stuff should of been out long ago. Great video though 👍
can we bring back the term "glassholes"?
I thought the display would be built into the lenses, like they showed at last year's presentation (broadcasting a map from Google Maps and indicating turns), but what I see now looks very sad...
I'm blind, so I'm definitely in the market for a good pair of AI enabled smart glasses. I'm definitely going to put these on my list to consider!
Why didn't they even talk about display glasses at I/O?
5:23 Vibe coded, "created in days" - how much did that cost in tokens??
They need to make a version that has no camera but everything else. I'm not going places with a camera on my face.
Now you can watch on your wrist viewfinder while you looking through viewfinder on your head. Nice!
Why are they going so slow with it? They were announced last year, still there's no release date for the display version, whereas meta already released their months ago, why is google struggling to catch up?
What is the point in making images with Nano Banana with the glasses and then amhave them pop up in all your devices?
Apple will be the one to get it right, as usual.
We already know what these glasses can do... give us specs? resolution? image quality of the aura??
We are not far away from something truly phenomenal. Imagine wearing lightweight glasses that can guide you through life in real time. Your sink breaks, your engine fails, a machine confuses you, and the glasses simply look at it with you and say: “Take this off. Turn that screw. Watch this.” Step by step, illustrated directly in front of your eyes while you work. Not just information, but live understanding. Cooking, repairs, engineering, learning a language, operating machinery you have never touched before. Instant translation. Bone conduction audio. Music without headphones. A tiny video appearing in the corner showing somebody fixing the exact thing you are fixing. AI becoming a real time teacher beside you instead of just something trapped inside a phone screen. That changes society in ways people barely grasp yet. Knowledge itself becomes portable and immediate. The barrier between “I don’t know how” and “I can probably do this” starts disappearing. Honestly, I cannot wait for that future. It feels exciting in the same way the internet must have felt before people realized how much it would change everyday life.
Live translation in glasses is the kind of future tech I actually want. That could be huge for travel.
Google glasses are back?
Play the game with you? You mean let you think you have a chance of winning for just a few seconds
They really be rolling out some EDITH glasses
Gaming is OK but the core features need to work right out of the box and work well. Translation of audio and text, turn by turn navigation directions while walking, read and respond to texts or see notifications, music controls and viewscreen of picture being taken. AI queries audibly and what is seen in camera/screen. These are the key features that need tow work well right away and seamlessly. Adding more features and games is nice but less critical for wide spread adoption. Having a physical camera lens blocker like laptops have would be great for privacy needs/desires. The features and tools of a smart phone and smart watch but hands free or mostly hands free will get people on board.
can't wait -- take my money
