knowing how radiation works ruins things like this. if less than a minute of exposure is lethal, you would need several feet of insulation to stop it. an inch or two of metal, even lead, would not be nearly enough to stop the radiation. as a matter of fact, the regular people would be getting dosed from that distance, with or without that led wall in the way.

There is such a thing called “lead glass”. It’s used for syringe shields for handling tracer fluid in imaging. Not sure it’ll block several bombs of rads tho
