I'm glad to hear it's good, because I've found that the past horizon games have been some of the most fun chill racing games out there...but as someone with a lot of the same complaints, I can't help but feel a little let down at the lack of change. I kind of get the progression thing. Some people just want to pick up the game, and start racing their favourite cars in amazing locales right off the rip because they don't have the time or don't want to grind to get there. That's fair, and I'm happy they get what they want. But I *like* feeling like I have to work towards the good stuff, and a part of that is not getting it too quick, and not starting off in the fastest, coolest cars. I especially like feeling a little limited in having to slowly upgrade my cars, as it really lets you grow attached to specific vehicles as you go. To this day I remember using the Lancer in Dirt 2. I don't remember most of the cars I raced in Horizon 5, despite enjoying the game, because you just hop between them so fast. Again, I'm happy for those who got what they want there, but I selfishly wish they had gone a different direction. The story thing though is a genuine shame because having a crappy campaign story caters to literally nobody, and sucks for those of us who want to actually have a campaign. EDIT: Horizon 4 was my entry into the series. I loved it. I immediately picked up 5 when it dropped because of how much fun 4 was....but it basically just felt like a new map DLC for the game I'd already been playing. I will be getting this one because I love the setting, but at this point I feel like I could *easily* start passing on these games if they aren't set either in my home country or somewhere I want to visit.

great review, but never touching Tuning is crazy work! i think driving feels like crap without at least downloading a half decent tune, and absolutely amazing with one. sometimes it's hard to even keep up with AI on default tunes. literally the difference of enjoying the game or not, for me.

It’s good to hear somebody with a big influence in the community actually call it the way it is because as an older gamer that played Forza horizon since the beginning, I don’t see the franchise growing. Yes, the Forza horizon five was amazing that felt like a step forward from four but looking at this one right here it offers absolutely nothing new and I’m OK with that but at least try to do something new and I honestly don’t know what to ask for maybe a little bit more community interaction between players we don’t have to always be competing. Maybe somebody can come and visit your house legit leave you a gift if you’re starting player something that would make it different just something because as it stands, this is a copy and paste from Forza Horizon five slapping the number six behind it and just changing the map and while that’s a good thing sometimes they mess up the game when they try to go in a different direction. It’s still not justifiable for me to go run grab it brand spanking you and pay full price for it especially the way this companies have been very greedy lately when it comes to memberships online play and on and on I just can’t go out and grab it the second it comes out I’ll wait. I’ll grab it when it’s on discount and feel good about it.

Thank you for emphasizing story. At this point if someone remakes Most Wanted character by character and line by line, I'd take it!!!

I will consistently appreciate a SkillUp review for being utterly objective, and the only reviewer I trust to distill the hype.

Damn, another skill of recommendation. One of the few voices I trust. OK in the cart. OK, I mean it sounds like it’s got better foliage longer draw distance and it can take a belt buckle to the ass of my RTX 5090. And it also seems like they enhance the cringe dialogue. Which is what always gets me to pull the cord within about 90 minutes of playing in one of these.

As a fan since the og, agree with everything you said. I played for 3 hours last night and got 3 wristbands after barely doing anything. The Estate building is a pain in the ass, and Tokyo is undercooked. But man, I loved every second of those three hours so far. The map and art direction are nearly perfect.

Spot on review except for one thing: Tokyo City does have smaller side streets. They are very easy to miss. The only time i found myself driving them was playing the DoorDash side game!

We deadass need other racing game series to come back, this forza slop can't be the only one standing.

I think the best ever implementation of a story and progression in a racing game was in Grid 2. Would be nice to see that idea brought to life in modern Forza

Awesome Review, hit the nail on the head again. Most disappointing thing in the game for me was yet again the AI and the "story", Japan was such a perfect opportunity to achieve more.. Regarding Raytracing: Set them to Medium instead of High, the visual difference is minimal but the performance cost enormous.

The one thing that bothers me the most about Forza 6 is the forests are not a hazard. In Forza 4, a grove of trees was a deeply risky shortcut option. In Mexico, they basically nuked "danger forests" and I guess you could accept that because it was mostly desert. But here in Japan, there's forests in every view. And you can just drive off the track at any moment and plow through trees that would pretzel a car. It's not that I want Forza forests to be impassable. Its that I want Forza forests to be RISKY. What seems to be going on at the money hat level is to smooth off every moment of frustration or possible offense, but it actually makes the experience less special. And for a contrast, in Crew Motorfest there are bamboo forests that shoot your blood pressure to the moon as you slalom through them at 300kph. Feeling peril is actually a good thing.
