Basically she had two choices A handsome guy who was a sadistic animal cruelty torturing type and this thug who was actually a sweetheart. Sje could see the spirits around both showing the correct choice

Not every angel wears a halo and has pure white wings, some of them have a menacing stare scary face and cannot communicate well, but they're angels regardless.

I avoided Mieruko Chan for this exact reason. It reminded me of my Wife and my Codsworth who was also a ginger cat.

For those wondering, the anime name is Mieruko-chan: Slice of Horror. Mieruko, the black-haired girl with yellow eyes, can see ghosts during her daily life. While looking for a new owner for a stray kitten, she sees her new teacher who asks if he could have the cat, but Mieruko, seeing he had evil cat spirits on his shoulders (black spirits), decided not to give him the cat. After that, when looking across the park at the bald and scary looking guy, she realized he would be the perfect owner as he had benevolent Nekomata spirits (cat spirits) with him. The spirits were his cats, he took such good care of them and loved them so dearly that they now watch over him from the afterlife, same with his wife. Mild spoilers: the teacher is not a "bad" person, the evil cat spirits that were following him were actually protecting others from "him". He grew up with an extremely abusive mother who was obsessed with him (another spoiler: she died and is now a monstrous evil spirit haunting the teacher) and never allowed him to have friends or pets, just looking at someone else was enough for her to become violent... Those evil cat spirits stay with him so that others won't end up like them, dying to the hands of the mom. (Pretty sure the teacher kills someone in cold blood at the end of the episode, the guy deserved it tho iirc)
