Here are two tricks I learnt in the Army 1) you can move a manual car out of harms way on the starter motor just put the car in gear before you crank. It's not smooth and it's not good for the car or battery but it will get you to safety, 2) doing this often jolts the entire system from starter system through engine and transmission this will SOMETIMES result in the car starting if you dip the clutch and release in quick succession like a jump start . This will sometimes even work when the battery is too low for a normal start due to hearing. It's not something I recommend doing unless completely stuck as it can do more damage then good if you. Do it repeatedly but it's a good tip to have in your arsennal
