As every successful bicycle racer knows, winning is winning. Vingegaard's goal is to win all grand tours. I believe he will win the Giro, using as little energy as possible, making sure he is fit, and not overtrained for the Tour this year, where he will face Pogie, et. al. He does not need to dominate here, he will take no risks, he will not overextend himself. He just needs to do enough to keep gaining time on his rivals.
If you watch the stages live you would've seen Jonas literally hop off his bike and get straight on a cold and a phone call right after a summit finished. Clearly he wasn't on his limit
My assumption is Jonas wants to win the Giro in a way that stretches him enough so that he's in peak condition for the Tour, but not so much that he wears himself out for it. But in any case, it's good to see he's not completely dominating the race...
The race is 3 weeks and Jonas need to top during Tour de France. he is doing a great job by not over doing it.
Vingegaard looked in control on both mountain stages. He raced tactically smart and kept his powder dry for the later mountain stages.
Jonas won both mountain stages. If that isn’t living up to your expectations, the issue is your expectations, not Jonas.
Gall is not a serious rival to Vingegaard. He's the closest rival, yes, but not a serious one. Respect Vingo.
He's saving energy for the Tour. He's putting the minimum amount of effort at this point. Although if you look at his numbers he is near his peak form.
The Giro d'Italia has certainly kept us on the edge of our seats so far! Giro 2026 Over performers : Gall, Eulalio, Rondel, Piganzoli Under performers : Pellizzari, Bernal, Mas, Gee-West As expected : Vingegaard, Hindley, Arensman, Storer
Gall is not a rival for Fishboy. Fishboy doesn't have to win this race by 10 minutes. He just needs to win and not waste energy he needs for Le Tour.
Been really enjoying following this Giro the Rockets YouTube channel has been great to follow to see behind the scenes
“It don’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning is winning” - Dom. P.S. FAMILY
I think the media has been the most disappointing to me.
jonas is going to wait to take the pink jersey.
Italian press dropped too much weight on Pellizzari's shoulders. He's a good rider, but Vingegard is on another level. He is totally in control, and he has no contenders IMHO. Gall's pedaling style hurts my eyes 😁 Why should Jonas have pulled Gall? He didn't need to put seconds in GC on the ones behind, as he's likely giving minutes next week. Gall OTOH needed to put as many seconds on them to secure a podium spot, so he was the one that had to pull. Can't wait for TdF and Pogi/Jonas/Seixas battle!
Decathlon ARE riding the best way to win. That’s being second, in case something happens to Jonas.
Jonas is clearly, after pogacar, the best stage race rider. He needs to win as much as he can now, because the latest next or the year after, Seixas might change that.
Afonso, not Alfonso. There’s no L in his name
Look at Jonas in the photo where he is kissing the bars. The man is dry. Face dry, legs dry, arms dry. Jonas is in low end zone 3.
