Mark takes on the repair that he has been dreading - a 5 channel amplifier, that arrived in pieces, and there is no service manual for it! It takes as much time to work out what goes where, as it does to do the repair. "I'm not sure that every audio manufacturer approves of metal standoffs" 😂😂😂
LOL Tom Evans is getting absolutely slated for his budget internals! 😂
"Not sure that every audio manufacturer approves of metal standoffs...." Epic beef continuation!
It's always a good day when Mark uploads another amp repair video.
You're never going to let that man live it down, are you Mark?
I just laughed at how it came in, looks like a build your own amp kit.
Mark, is a man of, seemingly, infinite patience.
The price of those JFETs is eye watering...
I haven't got a scooby doo what Mark is doing when he's testing but it's still completely fascinating watching him troubleshoot! 🙂
The standoff joke made me remember I only discovered Mark through that ridiculous drama and Louis Rossman's coverage of it. How thankful I am!
Those Tom Evans references never get old😂.
I nearly spit out my drink when I heard the quip about metal standoffs. Well done Mark! 😁😁😁
"If it only it had a PCB layout.. But it doesn't. So I made one" What a champ.
Speaking as someone who used to build amplifiers, I have to say I really like that board design. Beautifully organized, robust through hole components, and nice thoughtful touches to make it serviceable. I'm rarely impressed with "high end" audio but that looks pretty legit.
i dont know anything about electronics ..but i like to see a real craftsman
New Mend It Mark days are the BEST! YAY!!
Nice job tracing out the issues, and wow that JFET is a costly repair. I don't think I would have taken that mess of parts on. You did miss the thermal paste on the transistors to the heatsink, the smaller ones (Q11, Q12, Q21, Q23) should probably get some paste treatment. The larger ones that have the SIL pads don't need it as you said.
patience and precision Mark, brilliant !
I was wondering why the satisfying IPA PCB cleaning was not happening...then the faulty rare JFET and..part 2. Mark is a genius!
The B52 model is much larger, as big as a _whale_, in fact.
