Mixtape has taken up real-estate in the video game convo of this past week. Does it live up to the hype? Is it overhyped? Here are my thoughts on MIXTAPE!

Mixtape is a "game" designed by theater kids about nostalgia they never had.

The lack of gameplay isn’t what bugged me the most, it’s that the characters are annoying, self righteous douchebags who don’t grow or learn to be better people, it’s a coming of age story where the characters don’t come of age.

A "game" in which the main character threatens to commit domestic terrorism if her father does not let her ruin her life, and it is portrayed as a glorious moment

The word "Played" in the title is doing some heavy lifting

She not only rewinds the tape with a pencil (a fucking pencil!), but then puts it in a boombox that is perfectly capable of rewinding the fucking tape via the rewind button.

It's fitting that a movie reviewer reviews Mixtape.

Telltale games have way more gameplay and better story than this interactive movie funded by Nepo Baby.

A “game” where a main character threatens to commit domestic terrorism if her father doesn’t let her ruin her life, and it’s treated as a triumphant moment.

Jeremy's looking more like Bella's Dad. Must be having a secret Twilight movie marathon behind the scenes.

This game looks like a 19 year old today was pretending to be nostalgic for a time they never existed in, based on memes they saw online, backed up by "hello fellow kids" AI algorithm and terrible trend chasing animation. The pencil and tape part are the perfect example of how somebody hear that used to happen, but had zero idea how because they were never there and never did that so they were just going off of meme and hearsay.

People who lived in 80s/90s don't remember it aesthetically as portrayed by zoomers. The true aesthetic was wood paneling and cigarette smoke.

Surprisingly the most honest and yet respectful review I've seen so far of this game on the internet
