Rob in a 1 rotor Miata turns immediately into a 5 year old child.
Miata guy looking at the diff: "Welp, he blew the fuse!" They do that by design (I mean, not under power, but for collisions, presumably). A lot of us that race with stock-type diffs weld a plate in that arm to prevent that. It might make sense to switch to a 1.8 diff if that isn't already as they're a good bit stronger internally, and then reinforce the carrier on that side.
Steve Morris was talking about tuning in a video and he said he goes ahead and tunes even the areas he never expects the engine to run and it ends up resulting in the engine running well when something unexpected happens. I thought it made a lot of sense
You can brake that diff on a stock 1.6. Where it broke is literally engineered to break there.

Love the build! Miata is an awesome platform for a 1 rotor but, the AutoZam AZ-1 was born to have a 1 rotor and I will die on that hill. The displacement is still low enough to register it as a kei car which I think makes it a match made in heaven!

The miata diff always breaks there. You can weld reinforcement plates to it when you reweld it together
You are 100% going to need either a rx7 diff housing or to reinforce a miata diff housing with metal on the arms as well as possibly an upgraded transmission or swap trans. Normally miata differentials and trans can only take around 200-230 ft/lbs of torque
