That gay bleep was aggressive 😂
gay equinox at 8:12 , very accurate description
Been in the Skoda with my friend after stupidly crashing my car in Te Awamutu in a night drive. The officers even did a little launch at the traffic light after we talked a bit about cars. Honestly wholesome police officers, wayyy different from the corrupted force where I came from. Love NZ!
Your correct in saying New Zealand didnt have skylines and all that as OFFICAL police cars BUT i can 100% confirm they DID infact used to bait people with other boy racer cars. In Christchurch it was very well known by the locals that there was an Evo owned by a cop they would use to bait people into races on the avs or motorways and then as soon as it started they would take pictures, dissappear and then call the cops down the road to pull you over and take the car. All the christchurch homies from the mid 2000s will rememeber this very well.
god thos white/blue/orange reminds me of childhood. good and bad memories...
I work in a tyre shop in Otago and once fitted 4 tyres and did a wheel alignment on a Police Skoda Superb. Wheel alignments include doing 2 short test drives before and after. So I was allowed to drive one. :)
3:00 you said craptiva wrong 😂😂 Edit: 6:40 thank you 😂😂
you forgot the police tractor!! idk if they still use it but they did around 8 years ago. I remember seeing them at festivals to promote safety on farms or smt, nice video though mate :)
they defineatly had WRXs in manual , i got pulled over by one around turangi
That’s interesting because here in Greece, some police vehicles remain in service with the Hellenic Police for more than 20 years. I have a friend who’s a police officer and his assigned service vehicle until recently was a 1999 phase 1 Citroën Xsara, which he called a sh*tbox of a car. He is now assigned to a 2019 Peugeot 308, which he says that it has been poorly maintained
NZ based history on Cars would be fantastic!
Holden dominaated the fleet because they signed a contract that basically said ‘we get first dips on any vehicle type you want to buy’. Skoda are very receptive to making NZ specific improvements + very popular with European police.
A couple of honourable mentions... In the mid 80's before the V3000 come out the MOT would use the Mitsi Sigma and had a few of the GSR turbo ones. In the very late 80's they bought 2 Mitsi V3000 GTO, I worked at the factory at the time and we got to sort these out and we also removed the speed restrictor chips so they would do more than 180kph, rumoured to be closer to 250kph top speed. I also remember the Nissan 180SX turbos they had in the mid 90's as unmarked traffic cars.
My gosh that history you spewed is amazing 👏
No ford panel vans brother 😢😅
Can you please do a History on the Ambulances I would be keen to see that.
Queenstown police had Subaru a wee while ago.
I’ve always found it weird that NZ uses one model of police car at a time, when most countries use all sorts. It makes unmmarked police cars super easy to spot
I remember the old Sigma / V3000 or whatever they were Mitsis. As a kid I thought they must have been grunty as 😂. I had to drive the 4wd cop truck once on a search for a guy in South Westland while my mates walked down the road. Donna Marie Lever came from out of nowhere, did an interview and I ended up on the news lol
The black and whites were not a division of the Police, They were completely separate as part of the Ministry of Transport. They were also not called the traffic safety service. We were a proud group of guys and did a far better job of traffic enforcement with limited staff and resources than the Police have ever done. They should be reinstated.
