Ben Foster reveals the unwritten rule that most England fans don't know: the players don't actually keep their match fees. Foster breaks down the £2,000 per game fee that gets signed over to charity, and explains the "sponsorship pot" from massive brands like McDonald's and Carlsberg that gets paid out pro-rata to the squad. Nothing major: 2k per game 😂
Damn I thought they went to schools out of the goodness of their hearts
On top of, free accommodation, free food and drink, free medical, their club salary and the sponsorship money
Why are people getting so stressed about him saying £2k is nothing major? He’s talking about England wages and he’s obviously going to immediately compare them to his Club wages which in comparison are astronomical relative to national team pay. It’s like if I said to you how much you make off your side hustle, and you said eh about £50/month, you wouldn’t say that major would you if you make 2-3k a month off your main job.
Nothing major 2k a game??? I get £1,500 on a full time work a month 😮 Nothing major? Wow 😅
Making international duty voluntary would tell people so much more about the players than the press ever could
Imagine being a wonder kid in their first season and your still on 1k a week, you get called up and they tell you your 2k has been given away 😂
Should never be paid to go and do events representing your country
All that charity stuff is a scam. They’ doing it to pay themselves too.
Charities are such a scam
“The players get a share of the pool - like 20%” Well I guess five players would be happy then
Why do they even get paid? That’s the question. Surely playing for your country should be pay-free out of principle. They are paid 365 days a year regardless by their clubs anyway. Any money at all going to the players should go to charity full stop - food banks even the fucking state of the Uk after the last 15yrs or so.
So they would roughly get £200k - 400k per Camp, England would get £50M - £100M, the squad gets 20% of that £50M - £100M, Now split that 20% between 25/26 players
Not to mention all the free stuff, they are getting from the club and from the national teams!
On top of the risk of getting injured and then not being able to fulfil your duties for your club - who actually pay you the “major” money…
Foster loves talking about money, proper helmet
Pay them 15k a game so more money goes to charity
They earn enough money it should be an honour playing for your country... That port percentage could all be put into charity
I've always felt you shouldn't need the incentive to be paid to play for your country. It's more of an honour thing that you should want to do it voluntarily.
"nothing major" footballers don't know how we live
