See how a small brake shoe creates massive friction to stop hundreds of tons of steel in rail yards. This simple device has been preventing train disasters for over a century. And if it fails, buffer stops act as giant shock absorbers at the end of every track. #TrainBrakes #BrakeShoe #RailwayEngineering #BufferStop #Friction #TrainSafety #RailYard #Engineering #Physics #HowItWorks

looks like you need more than just one
This short sucks and makes no sense stop
I don't think it would stop the whole train, maybe some individual carriages
Oh my gosh I didn’t realise that there was a buffet at the end of the line. I just thought that the trains ran onto grass and then exploded
M-m-massive?
A buffer stop, it's basically a giant shock absorber that can handle up to.... <HTTP 410 Gone> ...Nevermind
Like the parking pawl in every car. 6 ounces of metal keeps your car from rolling down a hill when you put it in park. Crazy.
Thomas the tank engine taught me that buffers never work.
Railroader here. No, that little thing is not stopping 850 tons in a reasonable distance. Maybe 200 tons, but you‘d never use one for any more than that.
Really it's brilliant
😢
Thomas be going at 600MPH after seeing this
How about deploying , a bunch of these when the brake system malfunctions? Huh
Maybe these should be put at every railroad crossing
Why don't they just call Tobey Maguire every time a train is out of control?
LOW speed
May i turn your attention to Unstoppable?
Fun fact stuped peaple could have stoped it bevore it even moved
Is it me or the guy at the end looks like Dr. Strange (I didn't want to try to spell his name best I got is *Benadick cumperbach* which is super wrong)
Just stops it... Yeah, it doesn't "just stop"
