The Blue Cats’ website: https://www.thebluecats.com.sg/ The Blue Cats' Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/singaporethebluecats/ -------- Singapore is moving more strongly towards electric vehicles due to the Singapore Green Plan. From 2030, new petrol-only and diesel-only cars cannot be registered, while diesel car and taxi registrations already stopped from 2025. EV adoption has grown quickly: in 2025, battery EVs made up 45.1% of all new car registrations, overtaking petrol-electric hybrids for the first time. By October 2025, EVs reached 53% of new car registrations. There are three main reasons more people are buying EVs. Government rebates made EVs more attractive, with buyers able to get up to $40,000 to $45,000 off from 2021 to 2025, though the maximum rebate drops to $30,000 from 2026 and $20,000 from 2027. Charging an EV is also cheaper than pumping petrol, with some drivers claiming savings of around 60% to 75%. Charging infrastructure in Singapore has also improved, making EV ownership more practical. Chinese EV brands have become especially popular in Singapore. In 2025, BYD registered 11,184 new cars, taking 21.2% of the market, meaning about one in five new cars sold was a BYD. It also overtook Toyota, which had long been one of the strongest brands on Singapore roads. Other Chinese or Chinese-owned brands such as Xpeng, Zeekr, Denza, GAC Aion, Chery and MG are also present, and many of these brands are heavily focused on EVs. BYD and other Chinese EV brands are doing well because they offer more variety, competitive prices and modern tech features. Tesla is also growing, with 3,476 new registrations in 2025, but it still trails BYD by a wide margin because its model range is more limited. Traditional brands such as Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, Mercedes and BMW have EVs too, but their EV selection in Singapore has been narrower or newer. This could change as more non-Chinese brands launch more EV models in Singapore.

Chinese ev are heavily subsidised by their government to undercut the competitors. Their focus is sale and market elimination, with poor underlining quality and after sale.
Stupid policies. Only want to earn money
70% cheaper than petrol? Blue cat u buy first. Anyhow say. It is actually more expensive
Any China brand have to careful they only built to gain for Government grant Usually 3-5 years all problem surface and the markers cannot sell in China flooded the world and also Europe Singapore have rebates for EV but seriously is super danger Collision will burst within secs !! No point to risk your whole family with EV cars!!
EVs will NEVER be Cheaper, Do the Buyers actually do their Maths before committing ? HIGHER Road Tax Almost 2x vs ICE In SG. MUCH HIGHER Insurance premium n the SLIGHTEST Damage to the Battery pack n Insurance company will call for car to be SCRAPPED due to ASTRONOMICAL Battery cost, THOUSANDS of Cases Worldwide LARGER n MORE EXPENSIVE EV Specialise tyres WHICH requires MORE Frequent change due to HIGHER Weight n HIGHER Torque So Yeah
Upfront they sell cheap on prices but annual insurance are higher definitely they are selling cheap but will get back on other area like batteries or other repairs. There is now cheap lunch.
Morning Midas ship carrying 3000 vehicles caught fire and sank because of EV fire. Felicity Ace was another incident carrying 4000 exotic cars faced the same fate . The complexity of EV fires and fire brigade unable to access into carparks due to height restrictions/confined space has happened .
Similarly buying cheap phone but repair are more expensive than the actual phone
They are JUST Fancy Game Console on Wheels China is ONLY Interested in SELLING NOT on Repairs, so Expect them to Start Falling like Flies come 3-5yrs. They will NEVER Last 500k or Even a Million Miles on the ORIGINAL Batt n Motor Just DISPOSABLE Electric Toys to play for a Few short yrs
The gahmen has not stated explicitly if a 'mild'-hybrid counts after 2030. By then, all ICE will be at least 'mild' anyway.
For me I still don't trust the Chinese car brands I still prefer the European or jdm brands . 😂
I prefer Hybrid Cars..
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that EV fires increased from 1 in 2024 to 4 in 2025. While these figures represent a small fraction (approximately 1.7%) of total vehicle fires (226 in 2025), officials note that they are often more intense and difficult to extinguish. BYD Overturned Vehicle (February 2026): Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to free a passenger trapped in a BYD electric vehicle that had overturned. BKE Expressway Fire (February 2025): An EV caught fire on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) toward Woodlands, resulting in one person sustaining minor burns. Sentosa Cove House Fire (January 2026): A fire reportedly started while an EV (brand unspecified but noted to be an electric model) was charging in a car porch at 12 Cove Way, subsequently spreading to an adjacent luxury vehicle. Battery Faults: Of the four EV fires in 2025, two were directly linked to high-voltage batteries and one to an electrical component on the dashboard.
Heavy gov subsidies to flood the market and kill off the competition
Most comments here are very outdated that EV batteries have issues. You guys need to read more. Blade battery 2 by byd is a breakthrough technology. The only battery performance with terrific safety. Not only fast charge in 5mins, extreme nail puncture tests survive flammability and ignition without ANY smoke or fires.
China giving SG incentives to push their cars
Chinese EV brand tech is ahead of their competitors.
Batteries built in house in china lol. Definitely a reason to avoid
Volvo is Chinese too?
Based on the international TV news, we have seen so many ( too many ..... lost count .... impossible to know to real actual numbers ) china's made EV suddenly ignite on fire and burn fiercely on the busy road side....problems was not solve & and still see it on news every now and then........are we expecting to see this sort of news more regularly on the local TV news & newspapers in the near future ?
