Mazda Australia has cancelled CarSauce, and this should concern you. After we published our video last year called “Mazda is in BIG Trouble”, Mazda Australia took issue with a number of the points we raised. The video covered declining global sales, ageing platforms, quality concerns, dealer feedback and the growing pressure from Chinese manufacturers. Here is that video: https://youtu.be/wsEkCk-RwCA Wanting to be fair, I even gave Mazda Australia a heads-up before the video went live as a professional courtesy. We later had discussions with them, and after hearing their side, I re-filmed parts of the video months later to better reflect the situation. Fast forward to now, and things have escalated. CarSauce has effectively been blacklisted by Mazda Australia. We’re no longer being invited to launches, provided vehicles, or treated equally alongside other automotive media outlets. For one of Australia’s largest independent car publications, that raises a pretty serious question: Should manufacturers be able to cut off media access when they don’t like coverage? So, instead of staying quiet… I went out and bought one of Mazda’s most iconic cars ever made: an FD Mazda RX-7. Today’s video is the pickup vlog, the beginning of a new project car journey, and also a deeper conversation about media access, transparency, and why independent automotive journalism matters. Let’s get into it. #mazda #blacklisted #carsauce – 🚨 WE CAN HELP YOU BUY A NEW CAR!!! Mate don’t feel bad about spending 100k for the coolest car on the planet, I just brought a 2002 fd in innocent mica blue as well and it is immaculate, I paid well well over 100k for it and there only going to get more expensive to more the yanks by them up and leave less nice examples for us to acquire, especially Rx7 from the final production year.
Personally have had 2 mazda's including the CX-30 and now the CX-60 and personally i have had zero issues, i did however get the cx-60 after it was revised in mid 2025 to address alot of the concerns from the previous iterations which i know were quiet largely noted on social media and largely in the youtube space but since the update in 2025 i have seen plenty more of te higher end Mazda CX range on the roads.
Congrats mate! p.s lovely Explorer and Oyster Perpetual gents ;)
I’m looking at the mrs, how much does this wroth?
Its ok matt watson copped the same
I want to see the 0/100km/h!!!!
I recently sold my CX60 and I still have mixed feelings about it. Got it in July 23 and when I'm on the highway with it, it's gorgeous to drive. Unfortunately, the issues were too much for the family to handle so it's been sold. Still sad.
It would be my dream owning this gorgeous Mazda RX-7....my favourite Mazda ever!
"Probably my shortest ownership of a car" Remembers the BYD Atto1 that lasted about 4 hours.
Not surprised. The Mazda distributor in Australia denies any faults, and fails to stand behind their products. As with many in the industry, the customer concerns are often denied and rejected. Sadly CarSauce is now another victim of their blame shifting.
Mazda has too many electrical problems with their CX line. Had to lemon law a CX 30, they couldn’t fix it
Matt Watson from CarWow got on the blacklist when he suggested that the Mazda 3 hatch looked, from a design perspective, a little bit like a cat taking a poo. Years later, his channel seems fine. I don't know, but I think its fine if Mazda 'cut off' the occasional media outlet - what else are they supposed to do, eat a bunch of shit about their business practices and have their reputation diminished and downfall alluded to on a big-picture scale, not just some mean comments about Piano Black and boot space, and then buy you some plane tickets and nice sandwiches for the next launch? 'Would you like some sparkly to wash that down, sir?' I get that it's a very fine line with motor journalists being impartial as they need to maintain a symbiotic relationship ('free' cars to create income-generating content), whilst holding onto some integrity and calling it like they see it. But, when you start chewing up the business itself, not the product, and offering unsolicited marketing and product planning advice to a company with a 50 billion dollar annual revenue, like a charged up John Cadogen rant or something, yeah, you may ruffle some feathers. Surely the video was meant to? The large architecture cars, like the one your mate bought, came onto the market and got cooked by journalist the world over. Mazda reacted to this reception, admittedly at the snail-wheelie, ponderous and thoughtful speed of Japan's legacy giants, and a few years later they seem to be coming good. Any car guy knows the risk of punting on an all-new model, and your channel seems to rely on the rest of us waiting for the reviews, or even the reviews of the refresh before making our own decisions. The system kinda works; I didn't buy one; someone bought competitor's glowing review; YouTube content creators and journalists paid the mortgage and bought sports cars. -James from CarExpert just splashed out on a 70 grand Cupra, a brand probably being outsold by old RX-7s, so the industry must be doing just fine! Roll on. I watched your video for the tasty blacklisting story - it's good marketing. Stretch it out for as long as you can. Plenty of other car brands to review and plenty of other outlets to review Mazda. I'd just chalk it up to finding the limits of symbiotic patience. Maybe delay the twisting-knife deep-dive into the Tasman's utter failure, or Ford's impending 2 model doom, BYD/GWM's financials, or perhaps do it all under the MarketSauce channel! ha!
Hey that's Mittagong, hmm i didn't know they where local to me, might have to go check them out
This puts Matt Brand up there with Matt Watson, or CarSauce with CarWow as they have also been banned by Mazda for honest opinions.
Which atom is that? 3 or 4?
Did the RX7 make it all the way home ?
I just watched the video that got you in hot water, I don’t see what Mazda got upset about, the sales figures were from Mazda you didn’t just make them up+ I’ve seen other YouTubers say basically the same things if not worse so I don’t know why they singling you out. Regards Jim from Australia.
Happened to me in 2008 in Brisbane went by 2006 Maxx sport that I bought new had a gearbox problem. And every time I took it in. The dickhead technicians. Plug it in the diagnostics couldn’t find the fault.. so one day in 2008 two weeks out of warranty the gearbox blew itself apart. Never buy a Mazda ever again… and I have bought a lot of cars
Justin at Cult&Classic is a deadset legend.
Mazda Australia can get stuffed. Will never buy one ever again after refusing to cover a peeling fog light cover under warranty for a 6 month old CX9.
