I was recently widowed rather young (my husband was 52), and I’m struggling with living alone in a quiet house with just my dog (no kids). I’m finding so much inspiration from your outlook on being single but still having a full life with lots of love surrounding you. So just wanted to say thanks for putting yourself out there.

Hi Linda! Rule of thumb of eating in Japan is to just stand outside the establishment you bought your food at. As long as you’re not blocking someone or a business it’s okay. If there’s no space outside I would go find a quiet corner or alley and eat there, as long as you’re not walking and eating it is okay. Only exception to that is ice cream if I’m not wrong. Matcha samurai has a very humorous short video about it, so you can check it out!

I’m 44 and married young at age 19. I now have 3 kids and, although I love my kids and husband, I wish I didn’t get married so young and, sometimes, I wish I never married or had any kids. I had no business taking on such a huge responsibility when I don’t even know who I was or what my capabilities were. I wish I had loved myself more, traveled more, and enjoy life more. I can still do it, but now with extra baggages and a not so perfect or healthy marriage. Things are more challenging and complicated. It’s not easy to pick up and just go and be free. So here I am, crying and feeling hopeless and living vicariously through you.

I completely understand. I was stuck in a relationship and then left at 26 after 9 years. I’m now 33, house married and just had my baby girl. Life changes so fast when you put yourself first in the stage of life you can and should, you’re doing the right thing and the love you feel for yourself is something beautiful you’ll fall back on for years to come. Love comes at odd times, it’s not a dream, it’s under a foundation of love but love isn’t enough, it’s actions daily and it’s hard work. But I have faith the lord wouldn’t let a beautiful soul like yours not have that ❤
