Gods I adore John Lydon. Something people don’t seem to immediately get about Johnny is, he’s extremely intelligent. Smarter, and kinder, than one unfamiliar with him would ever imagine. Genuine, honest, direct, forthright, so quick witted, self deprecating, perfect sarcasm, unpretentious, brazen, never puts on airs, and he’s so very, VERY smart. Even after all these years, he’s remained himself, he’s remained punk, to this very day. Fame didn’t change him. Money didn’t change him. How could anyone ever not respect that? I mean, John Lydon IS the ultimate representation of what it means to be punk. Long live the Johnny Rotten.

35 years ago, when he was crapping all over MTV, I was standing in absolute applause. He was so right about that fraud of a network, and yet no one stood in support. This man is a treasure to the human race.
As a Teddy boy in the 70’s, I despised Johnny Rotten & the whole punk ideology, not understanding that that’s what the Teds were in the 50’s!!.. over the years, I came to understand the music & genre a lot more, and I like quite a lot of the bands which sprung from the seeds of the Pistols.. I’ve seen a few interviews with Johnny now, and I have to say, he is probably the only celebrity I would like to sit down, have a pint with, & chat about, life, love and happiness!!.. oh! & music too of course. A brilliant interview with one of life’s good guys, loved it👏👏👏.
Back in the day everyone loved Savile and hated Jonny Rotten. Now just about everyone hates Savile and respects John Lyndon who has now become a national treasure.
