I understand it’s a big city and most of them likely work but the irony of the first one I was trying to use not working and then several after that in midtown for that matter blows my mind a little. Accessibility isn’t really the type of thing where you’re like oh it’s the thought that counts especially in NYC where crossing the street can be a literal matter of life or death even for a sighted person. Anyway I’m glad I can still use my OG orientation and mobility skills to get across the street safely and independently even if the tools aren’t working. Also where is the Braille? It’s wild there’s apparently a picture of a blind person but no Braille? I get we don’t all read Braille but at least give me some tactile bumps * * #accessibility #blind #nyc #street #realtalk

ive seen kids slam on them with their feet & press them rapidly/aggressively. There should be an initiative to teach kids not to abuse disabled ppls accessiblity. Edit: I didn't say the city wasn't responsible for maintaining/the upkeep of these tools, just that citizens of new york could treat them kinder. One Love.
Thats wild, in california they have brail, they beep like every 10 seconds to help locate it, and says wait until the cross is ready then it beeps so fast it almost sounds like a rifle
Yes, visually impaired sign with no braille
In Australia all of the buttons have a braille arrow and come with audible signal when you press - and it only goes audible when it is time to cross.
Its so sad they don't maintain this equipment
That’s New York for ya 😭
Maybe if this video goes viral the mayor of New York will look at fixing this stuff
In OREGON we have those. NOT REALLY BUTTONS as much as SENSORS, and it REALLY DOES have a strong male voice that says WAIT! kind of aggressively.. 😂❤❤🎉
I think other ppl are crossing THATS MY SIGN TO RUN (bro said that as if he was getting chased)
As a New Yorker, those things don’t work 99.9999% of the time. The audible signal is the car horns while crossing the street 😂
This was funny keep if up man
You were spoiled in the UK then. 🤘🏻One Love 🤘🏻
One love Anthony! Woo! ✌🏻
Same with wheelchair access ramps and buttons to open doors. I've had to go through some ridiculous maneuvers just to go through a door or even reach the area near a door.
People should be checking that often to see if it’s working or not Because blind people should be able to cross the street with those types of things
Come to Australia one day bro. Our city's are a lot more accessible
I'm glad you made it!! It's dangerous out there.
if my suburban town where people never even walk has these buttons on major highways, why the hell doesn't nyc??
I made it one love... lol bro ya killin me 😂
It makes sense when you said new York
