Xabi made average players look like world beaters as long as they buy into his idea. He was a fantastic midfielder and he sees the game from a different perspective than most coaches.

Xabi was a great player who was coached by some of the greatest managers of all time, and, given how exceptional he was in midfield, able to read the entire passage of play, he would have gained incredible insights into playing the game and into coaching and managing players. One more thing I foresee about Chelsea in the dressing room is that Xabi's appointment would persuade a few players who considered leaving, like Enzo and Kogureya, to stay, and would also attract others to Chelsea, even without Champions League football. Even if he doesn't work out, I think this is a very, very positive first step that I don't believe any other Chelsea manager could have taken.

The appointment of Xabi Alonso is the best decision since the Abramovich era! After the stupidest move in Chelsea's history by appointing Liam Rosenior on a 6.5 year contract! The sports director should be fired!
