The age of enshitification is here.
Love a Jim only vid, it's good gathering insight from a mechanic, not just what goes wrong or how common it is, but the gritty details about it.
I’m not a mechanic, but Jim certainly is.
The engineering isn't broken, this is exactly going as they planned.
My brother-in-laws own 3 current model Rangers between them, and all three cars have had major failures in the first 2-3yrs of ownership. One brother in law got stuck in the middle of the Nullarbor due to transmission failure, with 4 kids on board. Had to get towed back to Kalgoorlie and book a flight for him and the kids to Brisbane. The same car had engine failure about 6 months later around 2.5hrs south of Perth, with his 4yr old son on board. No food, and only a tiny bit of water left while they waited 2.5hrs for the tow truck to arrive! The other brother in law has 2 Rangers for his business, and both have had catastrophic engine failures while only ~1yr old in the middle of nowhere in SW Western Australia, both times hours from the nearest dealership. Both brother in laws are now sworn off Rangers and won’t be touching them again!
Jim - we need a list of modern cars engineered well. Get them the attention they deserve
Hello Jim, let's make a video about cars easy to work on.
Jim's Soapbox assessments of modern vehicles . . . . . Absolute Gold !! . . . should be a permanent segment on this channel
Jim ragging on shitty engines for 10 minutes is very, very welcome
I love hearing a mechanic rage on shit engineering. Imagine thinking a dipstick doesn't work and needs more complexity. Or we should create custom tools for one part of a specific engine.
ReJimen is what we need
Ford engineer: “I was just following orders”
Love to see more of Jim! 🤩
An honourable mention to long service intervals which grenade the engine for the poor bugger who picks up a second hand car with a complete log book service history.
Always a relief when my car doesn't get a mention in these vids.
We need more Hullsy videos like this. Informative l with a dry sense of humour and a good mix up from the usual formula as a sort of palette cleanser. I'd like to see Hullsy do a video about the worst mods people do to their cars and the downsides of them. Great video guys and as always keep up the good work and look forward to next week's videos as per usual 👍
Some people look at my 16yo Mazda2 that I've owned for 14 years and ask why I haven't chopped it in for a newer car and the answer is simple: it's simple.
As an owner of a mechanical shop. Couldn’t agree more
Here's for those regulators making rules and guidelines for car manufacturers, MAKE CARS REPAIRABLE NOT DISPOSABLE.
When I saw the title, I honestly thought that the video was going to be about cars that are super reliable and easy to work on, so much so that mechanics hate them as they can only make a few $$$ on servicing. Seems like I was mistaken
