Forget the $80k showroom dreams and the "you need a brand new tourer to get out bush" nonsense. We're cutting through the noise and showing you the 4WDs that punch well above their price tag. We're talking proven workhorses that have been crossing the Simpson, climbing the High Country and dragging boats up beaches for decades. The old HiLuxes, GQs, GUs, 80 Series, Pajeros and a few left-field options that punters are sleeping on. We'll tell you what to look for, what to walk away from, and which models are about to take off in price before everyone else catches on. You don't need a big budget to get out there. You just need the right rig and the guts to turn the key. 16:19 Buy a cheaper older vehicle without a loan. The most valuable piece of advice in this video
Grandson asked me to help him look for his first 4x4. He wanted an older troopy like mine, to go touring/camping in. Lucky him. I have friend out @ Wagga who just happened to be selling his HZJ 79. Drove out there, checked it out, took it for a drive off road to make sure everything worked like it should. 2000 build date. Clean, a few small dents, regularly serviced, one small rust spot in the bottom of the driver's side front door, needed a couple of parts replaced, brake pads, clutch plate almost worn out, new winch rope. Full bar work, LED light's, winch, 33's, twin spare tyre rear bar, 12 volt management, dual batteries, twin locked, factory A/C. The seller wanted 13 for it and was keen to sell. Settled for 10 cash. Grandson slept in it that night, in the driveway. I don't think the smile has left his face yet.
"Underrated". Continues to show every kind of HiLux and LandCruiser on the market.
Video 9 of asking when you guys are coming to nz
Should get a gen 4 pajero and take it on a trip, show the people what those rigs can actually do
RIP Kyle Loftis of 1320 Video
Lets's talk about 90"s Pajeros... Best in the business for the price. No Toyota tax...
We want to hear from you 👇 What do you reckon is the most underrated 4WD?
I just brought my first car! a 2005 GNN25 Hilux, my name is Storm, never met another bloke called Storm an the seller was called Storm… Brought it for 17 including rooftop, fridge, draws and a 3 battery setup AND a fully rebuilt motor at 200,000 now done 287,000. Chuffed to bits as I work in the Kimberly and is going to be my tourer for my days off.
Recon td5 defender should make one of these lists. Can pick em up for like 15-20 absolute weapons stock and have so much potential
Keen for a trip with the Pajero so you guys can see how good it actually is 😜💯
As a Toyota lover, owning a Fortuner 3.0 D4D - also owning a Pajero SWB - I would love seeing more diversity in cars being tested/toured.
Just got me a Prado 120 for 6.5. roadworthy and mechanically perfect, just some dings here and there, but very happy sniping this gem and lots planned for it 🤙🤙
Amazed that Holden jackaroo never gets mentioned in these lists. They're absolute steals price wise and very capable. I've seen probably the most modified one in the world, absolutely crazy capable.
My first car, 1994 Nissan pathfinder. 3.0L V6, bought from the ORIGINAL owner for $2500. It was immaculate inside and out. As a young lad it taught me so much about cars and was so fun working on it with mates and being able to drive it around without worrying about every scratch because it was cheap as chips. So to the people looking at their first forby id recommend getting something a little cheaper and using more of your budget on fixing it up and chucking on mods, you learn so much along the way and won't regret the memories . Cheers Legends
I got my Subaru Brumby for $2.5k and dad and i fixed it up, shes an awesome little thing l. Great first car
Mitsubishi MR Triton 👌👌
We can get a Range Rover Classics here for under $10k here, soooooo tempted, that 3.9V8, there are even a few with the LS1 engines in too. (UAE btw).
15:43 old rigs all the way
Im in the US, so 2004 TJ Rubicon, you get good axles, lockers, inline 6, not a ton of electronics so its reasonable to work on, parts and aftermarket comin' out the wazoo.
