DIRTY Boxing: STEP ON Their FEET! #dirtyboxing #boxing #boxeo

Sports

Most fighters focus on head movement and footwork, but your opponent's feet are just as important as their hands. In this clip, The Arena's Boxing Coach Joe Vargas breaks down one of dirty boxing's best-kept secrets — the foot step. When closing distance to land a combo, planting your foot on top of your opponent's pins them in place, takes away their base, and makes it nearly impossible for them to counter cleanly. It's boxing technique meets street-smart grappling, and it's completely fight-changing when timed right. The beauty of this boxing training drill is in the subtlety. You're not stomping — you're stepping in naturally, letting your weight do the work. When your opponent tries to pull their foot free, they throw themselves off balance and walk right into your punches. The disruption is small, but the effect is massive. Now, dirty boxing comes with responsibility. Refs will notice if you're obvious about it, so the key is making it look like a natural step. You'll get a warning or two before they take a point, so save it for the right moments — don't burn it early. Use it sparingly, use it smart, and let your combos do the rest.
