When you pull the HVbattery unit, you needed the details from the battery units. Which you can read off the individual cells. That data needs to be inputted into the SME. Then before you install it you need to do the End Of Service (EoS test) to get a release code. You then input that into the car. That tells the car the HV is safe and won’t kill anyone. This is all done with a special HV IMIB that links to ISTA. If you take it to a dealership they will be able to get you back on he road within a few hours if they don’t need to pull the HV to get the serial numbers.

I ran the numbers, and putting a BMW M5 back on the road is roughly 8-10 times greener than buying a new one. Scaled up, that's approx. 3.5 million tonnes of CO2 could be saved each year in the UK alone by stronger right-to-repair laws. That's excluding the fresh steel, aluminium, water and energy footprint etc.

The keys now have an accelerometer that will stop transmitting the keyless signal unless the key is moved. The idea is to stop the car thieves using the key repeaters when your key has been left sitting somewhere inside your house.
