I expected better. Honestly. Subscribe here: www.youtube.com/@therightcar?sub_confirmation=1 The new Toyota RAV4 HEV is a BRILLIANT SUV. Let me get that out of the way. But it's not the benchmark setting moment that the last version was. The market has changed and other brands have caught up - and even OVERTAKEN Toyota - so this new-gen RAV4 is a bit disappointing in some ways. You'll see what I mean if you watch the video til the end. This DETAILED REVIEW covers all the stuff you NEED TO KNOW about the New Toyota RAV4, including pricing, specs, fuel efficiency, safety, technology, driving, ownership and more. NOTE - I will do a separate review on the Toyota RAV4 PHEV at a later date. -- SHOUTOUT to the LEGEND Shana at Drive Thru Media with her AMAZING content - check her out! https://youtube.com/@drivethrumedia_official?si=XzvDzcYq2RJRVOb9 ALTERNATIVES: Honda CR-V - https://youtu.be/lQ3bfEiIBdo MG HS Hybrid+ - https://youtu.be/4jNGDnMZskU Kia Sportage - https://youtu.be/CV599V8wA60 WATCH: Previous Toyota RAV4 review - https://youtu.be/gda7EW6gyLs Hyundai Tucson - https://youtu.be/xVeQ8VPUGTM BYD Sealion 6 - https://youtu.be/c9DZekeHF3E MORE FAMILY SUVS - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBy4fvI8Hf_TDQkbdJacbkA_xrNjFLF8y MORE HYBRID CAR REVIEWS - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBy4fvI8Hf_R9RHcW0ATYoS0RV7wbaNeM -- WATCH MY PREVIOUS RAV4 coverage: Prototype drive - https://youtu.be/NOAKTdAhQkA Preview content - https://youtu.be/hx1_mtVjB1Y -- 00:00 New Toyota RAV4 Australia 00:26 Is it the right price? 04:28 What are the best alternatives? 06:25 Is it the right size? 09:34 Interior 18:33 Under the bonnet 19:26 Driving 25:50 Efficiency 26:57 Is it safe? 28:23 Ownership 29:40 Verdict -- I am aiming to review every new car on the market that people actually buy, to help new-car customers like you, or curious car enthusiasts (maybe also like you) get the right steer when it comes to choosing a new set of wheels. Toyota has stolen my screen door. That grill is horrendous👎. The only one I'd buy is the Edge but like all Toyota's way overpriced. 🤑
Overpriced for what it is.... unfortunately the budget friendly brand is no longer
Why would you bother unless you're a Toyota fanboy, which is Australia I guess but honestly, Japan has lost the plot.
Looks prehistoric
I Bought the Base GX with full size spare . Has everthing you need in terms of spec . The higher spec models offer a lot of things not wanted or needed for a lot of money . ( Who needs fake leather vinyl heated seats in Qld ) Excellent on fuel . Im getting 4.6L/100km avg real world economy - I love this car
Crv is better value and it has the proper dials for the air con and not this touchscreen crap
Toyota make an outstanding car, but China is starting to surpass a lot of the known brands, and there are more and more Chinese tech and parts in all brands.
Just like the new Hilux...old car, add some lipstick, up the price and sell them in droves to the one-eyed, Toyota army.
143kw 😂😂😂 less than camry haha, so i will say tomorrow price for yesterday car lol
GWM, CHERY, MG OR GEELY. TOYOTA has become the Kodak of the new cars
I don't understand how the interior design got off the drawing board. No one is ever going to touch those drive modes they should be in the touch screen somewhere. Audio controls and climate controls are used almost every time you get in the car they should be bold in your face and tactile.
Dislike the center console 100% ...not good enough Toyota.
i hate touchscreens, give me buttons.
The Edge is the one I'd buy 18 inch wheels and hasn't got that ghastly grill but way overpriced. I'd buy a Haval H6 Hybrid AWD and pocket the $17,000 $.🤑
Toyota put the bloody buttons and knobs back - stop copying the cheap Chinese cars, not everything belongs in a screen. Knobs have been the best way to change the volume and AC since the 70's.
The previous RAV4 lacked about 15 to 20 hp and the fact that this RAV4 has more than 20hp less than the previous RAV4 is a disaster.
Yea nah, just get the GWM H6 PHEV or Hybrid and call it a day. The Taxi's using the GWM H6 Hybrid version are now after 3 years clocking 300,000km with no reliability issues to note. Reliability was the only thing Toyota had and now you can get it in a Chinese SUV like the GWM for cheaper. One H6 Hybrid Taxi I sat in had 340,000km and the driver said, yea no issues, just normal booklet servicing. I am seriously thinking of getting the GWM H6 PHEV version, waiting for mid year sales to decide. Yes I know, the Rav 4 will have a higher resale value come 5+ years, etc but who cares when it costs $20k more.
So thoughtful including braille on the cruise control button for blind drivers.
I was on the waiting list for this but was very underwhelmed by it. I had a 2021 Rav4 AWD Cruiser Hybrid and loved it. but decided to trade it in as soon as the warranty expired. I ended up getting the Tucson Premium AWD Hybrid. I personally feel it's a better car. bigger boot, more leg room for rear passengers and better tech. plus a 7 year warranty. still getting used to the gear shifter but that will come with time. The Rav4 is still a great car but I just prefer the last model. new Rav4 is only 140kw and my Tucson is 173kw and just as fuel efficient. in fact I get slightly better fuel economy with the Hyundai and it has a smaller tank. may be the way I drive though. I don't drive to save fuel, I see it as a bonus though. I think the new Rav4 will sell, but maybe not as well as the last model.
why dont they ever give u a base model to test out after all it is the most populsar grade that is sold
