Some people spend their weekends relaxing at the lake… and some people get a phone call that says, “Hey, our brand new six-figure 5th wheel ripped the hitch out of the truck and is currently trying to return to nature.” So naturally, I loaded up the Zacklift heavy wrecker and drove three hours into the middle of nowhere to see just how bad this decision was going to get. Surprisingly, the trailer somehow survived its attempt to swan dive off the side of the mountain completely undamaged. Which honestly made the job way harder… because now I had to figure out how to drag, lift, winch, rotate, and perform redneck engineering magic to get this giant luxury apartment back onto the road WITHOUT putting a single scratch on it. No pressure or anything… just a very expensive rolling mortgage hanging halfway over the edge while everybody watches me pretend I have a plan. Between sketchy mountain roads, questionable terrain, and trying not to become the reason this trailer finally DOES get damaged, this one turned into one of the more nerve-racking recoveries I’ve done in a while. The highlight of this video was getting to watch a true professional like Casey work with men that were used to solving problems and working together. For all the yt experts that have never done a recovery... It can be incredibly tricky to figure out how to rig something like this. Casey makes it look easy, but it really isn't. It's not unusual for less experienced guys to cause more damage getting it out than they started with... this was well done
As accidents go the one in this recovery was about the best kind possible. No one was hurt not a lot of damage and after a lot of fiddly maneuvering the home trailer was recovered with little to no damage. Hang in there stay safe and healthy.
