Unless it's an old style saloon bar door, doors always open outwards for safety. In the 1900's, there was a fire at a club. The door opened inward and because of the stampede for the door, all of the pushing, the people in the front couldn't open the door. The people at the door were crushed to death and the rest died from smoke inhalation. I think the club fire became so internationally known, that fire exits and outward opening doors became building codes.
