I met a guy once who carried a laminated bar code in his wallet. It was lifted from the cheapest bottle of wine in a supermarket. He routinely walked in, picked up the most expensive bottle, put it in the bagging area and confidently scanned his laminated card, paid and walked out. I think the camera surveillance may have got tighter since then, but he was doing it for years.

I found a huge flaw, cashiers get really scared if you point a gun at them and yell to empty the registers.

Does not work in Australia. If the item does not match the barcode you cannot proceed. There are camera above the check out monitoring what is scanned.

I know people that used to just walk out of the automotive section with TVs. They donβt pay attention back there and they would just unplug the detector thing and walk out

That doesnβt work on the self checkout stores Iβve used in Canada because the scale is calibrated to the weight of produce. If you scan a bunch of bananas and then place a TV in the bagging area, the checkout will pause and an alter will be sent to a staff member to correct the problem.

In Denmark every item is weighed on a scale in those self checkout counters, and it has to match the exact preprogrammed weight.

Unless you black out the original barcode, the alarms will go off when exiting.

The security sticker on or in the box would trigger the alarm and the door guard would expect to see the price of a luxury electronic item when they went through your receipt.

I worked in retail for a while and couldn't believe it when they put in these self checkouts! Besides putting clerks out of work, they were magnets for thieves.

I worked in a warehouse at circuit City and it took two people verifying anything that went out the door a month later the store manager was taking TVs out of the back at night lol.
Social media is responsible for causing so much crime - it really needs to be dealt with ffs

If you pick up a packet of potatoes onions or anything else in the fruit & veg that is bagged , take them to the scales & weigh them . It will come up with a cheaper price , print the label & put it over the bar code on the original packaging it will come up as that product at the check out but cheaper . I think I would have the bananas than the TCL tv .

cant do that in the UK, they have security tags in or on the boxes which need taking off my staff members otherwise all the alarms will go off when they get to the exit. also, the self scan have cameras which now view each product you scan, not just the weight

Except in most places, PS5s and iphones are usually locked up and the clerks who unlock the cabinets usually hand carry the items to a register for you to pay for there.

Not at any walmart ive been to. They stop me every single time and diligently look over the receipt. I call them a mean name and then leave. Been getting stopped every time for a decade

I think the most interesting part about this video is how many times can the guy say "its a huge critical flow "
