I did that. I got the joystick replaced but I ended up messing up the sensor ring... So it was unsuccessful lol

Unrelated to oculus remotes, I was fixing my Nintendo switch lite joystick, when I encountered a stripped screw I tried everything even glue, eventually it sat for months. When I remembered about it, and got so annoyed at trying everything again, that I just drilled into it and surprisingly it worked
