Pakistan might feel they got the decision right early on: Abbas and Shahzad had Bangladesh in serious trouble: but zooming out, it still looks like a risky call dressed up as a safe one. In these conditions, choosing to bowl first means signing up to bat last, and that’s never comfortable on a surface that’s only going to break up and get trickier. The early dominance was real, but it doesn’t change the long-term risk attached to that call. What really stands out is the mindset. This feels less like a team trying to dictate terms and more like one hoping things fall their way. After what happened in the first Test, going down the same route again doesn’t inspire much confidence. Letting Bangladesh recover from 116/6 to 278 is the kind of slip that lingers. Pakistan still control parts of the game: but unless they build a lead of 100+, this could easily drift the same way as the last match.
I love Ramiz and he makes a lot of sense. But I always feel he would prefer that this show could be done in English:-)
