You've reached the end
Imagine a centuries old vampire passing by a new mirror, stopping, doing a double take, and then tearing up when they realize THEY CAN SEE THEMSELVES AGAIN!!
That is terrifying! They invented a whole new type of mirroring technology just so they could blend into the population better. Edit: Thanks for all the π and yes, Welcome Mats are also another terrifying invention.
You can also use saline and coconut water for a temporary blood infusion which means we can have vegan vampires
Imagine a thief that carries part of a vampire (or is one themselves) and they use this as a test to see how valuable the mirrors are.
Alright. Now we need a punky doodles version of this.
And now with welcome mats they can walk in homes without being invited by a human and the mirror test doesn't work trust nobody
I like to imagine that vampires dress fancy because that is the one thing in their reflection that they can see.
I'm so using that to mess with my players in D&D
I thought vampire lore often included reflections in water not just mirrors.
Vampire weaknesses are often seen as things that are healthy, since vampirism was considered a disease, so the fact they couldn't see their reflection was because silver can be antibacterial
Good theory, but vampires are undead monsters with no souls, and mirrors reflects a persons soul in folklore
Cameras should also be able to see them due to different material including not using true mirrors anyway.
i like to imagine vampires wore eyepatche like pirates but with a mirror on the inside so they could see backwards
That's also why vampires don't show up in normal photographs, as traditional photos are developed using silver nitrate - they do, however, show up in digital photographs as the cameras use photodiodes made of silicon.
Or, the immortal counts who get set on fire when they walk outside and cannot enter someoneβs house without permission, all while feasting on blood, just donβt have a reflection
I would argue it still wouldn't work, Aluminum doesnt have a "pure" form in nature and needs to be highly refined to even exist removing tons of impurities.
Actually, before the invention of the Hall-HΓ©roult method of producing aluminum in 1886, aluminum was one of the rarest and most expensive / labour intensive metals to produce. So Iβd venture to say aluminum wouldβve been considered even more pure of a metal than silver back then.
"oh my god, I'm fucking beautiful"
Van Helsing is a LEGENDARY flick
Actually vampires didn't show up in mirrors because it was believed that the mirror reflected your soul, and vampires have no souls.
