Good topic Jade, I’m 82 just bought my 8th boat in 2023 an Alden 44MKII in Bristol condition SV METEOR I sail the eastern seaboard of North America and the Caribbean. My hope is to be underway until my last moment. It is a cherished thought😊

Personal question to Brett: Aren't you missing flying? I am a hobby pilot (Glider and Touring Motor Gliders), for several reasons I didn't get to fly much the latest years, but especially when I am somewhere high up in the Austrian alps in a glider, it is an incredible emotional high I don't want to miss. What about yourself? Or was your job just another job? Being curious...

Well said! Cruising is hard, uncomfortable, very expensive, and it makes you feel alive as opposed to the easy, comfortable, and mostly boring life ashore. We cruise as long as we want to and when it isn't fun anymore, we move on but never forget the highs and lows of life on a boat.
Our cruising period was 2010 to 2016. It was fun, but there is a season for everything in life and our cruising season has passed.
If all else fails, Brett can build a plane out of the sailboat.

We live on a 23 acre homestead in East Texas, not going to lie, it’s a lot of work managing a large acreage, growing a garden, cutting up fallen trees, splitting firewood, canning/dehydrating/freeze drying food, it’s the price we pay for being independent and self reliant. Oh we own an RV and travel often within states around us, we do enjoy kayaking and fishing.

Jade looks so much happier back in the Bahamas. Maybe it's the sailing, maybe it's the weather. Either way, it looks good on you.
First, you both look great. I think the full-time warm weather cruising lifestyle is good for you! Second, I think the free spirit type of people attracted to cruising are also attracted to change so they look for the next thing and have the grit and passion to make it happen. Lastly, I think the YouTubers are the most fortunate because you will have well documented evidence to go back and relive your amazing experiences no matter what phase of life you transition to in the future.
