I lived in Halifax for close to a decade and it once snowed the week of my birthday. My birthday is in June

"brain damage blanket" is too, TOO accurate. Pretty sure it led to a small stroke for my husband when he was a child!

They'd keep us in for rain and then send us out for blizzards 😂😂😂

Crazy carpets, a steep hill, and a ramp made of packed snow. I am surprised none of us died that year. 😂

Speaking of Halloween, does anyone remember the UNICEF boxes? Teacher would hand them out every Halloween in elementary school, and we wore them around our necks(needed the hands free for that second pillowcase!). Like a pack of panhandling St. Bernards. 🤣🍁

I moved to Edmonton from Ontario when I was 14 and was given the duty of handing out the candy. That Halloween was -27'c out and I had to keep opening the door to kids in snow suits (I froze). I gave them loads of candy, they earned it.

Born in 78 and I experienced every one of these. Never thought of them as anything other than just part of our everyday lives.

Having Mom brush the snow off our wool coat and pants with the straw broom. Arms out, stand still, quarter turn, repeat.

😂 Except Nunavut and crazy carpets didn't exist when I was in school. Only NWT, and we had flying saucers instead of crazy carpets.
