I’ve been gardening for over 20 years and I still learn something new every year. A couple of tips for you…. Don’t buy greens like rocket, lettuce and spinach already grown, buy seeds. It’s less expensive, they usually come up in just a few days and you get longer before they bolt and go to seed in the heat. Just direct seed right into the beds. If you have a potato where the eyes start growing, just cut it into pieces with an eye on each piece, let them dry for a day or two to callus over and then plant them. The calendula you planted will not only be beautiful but will attract aphids away from your veggie plants and act as a “trap crop”. The flowers can also be dried to use in teas or salves and other skin products. Best of luck with your garden! 👩🌾

Hi! I usually plant potatoes when they start showing eyes. Just the ones you get from the market. Their fav place to grow is in the compost pile. Soil, grass, leaves, paper waste and some worms. Lots of videos on making a tower with just the,wire fencing you already have. Start your soil pile at the ground 6"" plant the potatoes then as the plants grow, remove leaves and bury stems...I found voulenteer plants,when I was cleaning out our garden. Apparenly the are hardy! Zone 8 WA state
Just one hint about potatoes. Go to grocery store, buy potatoes (whatever variety you enjoy). Let them sit in your pantry until they sprout 'eyes'. Cut eyes off potatoes. Leave eyes to dry either inside or out...we call it scabbing and only takes about 24 hours. Then plant the eyes and wait. You will have potatoes in abundance.

If you do raised beds putting cardboard on the bottom before putting compost in is what people usally do. My veg garden the ground is so hard I just fork the ground before putting cardboard down. Remember to wet the cardboard before filling the beds
