In today’s vlog I popped into Søstrene Grene after noticing something interesting, many of their home decor pieces have a very similar aesthetic to the beautiful items you might find at Anthropologie, but at a much lower price. So in this video I’m taking a closer look at some of the decor, sharing the pieces that caught my eye, and seeing whether you can really achieve that Anthropologie-inspired look on a budget. Afterwards I head down to Dún Laoghaire, where George’s Street is full of wonderful vintage and antique shops. I spend some time browsing the little treasures and soaking up the atmosphere of one of my favourite seaside towns in Dublin. Back at home I also share an adorable trinket I picked up recently in County Kerry that I completely forgot to show in a previous vlog. If you love cosy home decor, vintage finds, antique shops, and discovering beautiful pieces without spending a fortune, I think you’ll enjoy this one. I love it when you are out and about, you rearrange items that have not been put back straight...think first time I noticed was when you were putting curtains right 🤣. That was a lovely little shop, I liked the attention to detail with the wooden boxes they used for storage and display and the fabric over the shelves.
THANK YOU!!!! I am rather homebound at the present time looking after my 95 year old mum. I am one of the armchair tourists, and I can think of a better guide that you, Catherine. Let the Delightful Dainty Detours continue!!!!!!
This was such an emotional video for me to watch. Years ago, I became friends with a Dutch woman who married an Irish man. They lived in Ireland and I went to visit them in 2017. I visited them again more recently with the idea of potentially moving to Ireland myself. My Dutch friend took me to Søstrene Grene and we talked about decorating my future apartment. I had to put my move on hold for numerous personal reasons and she died a little over a year ago. I'm moving forward with my plan to relocate to Ireland once again and it's so bittersweet to think about shopping at Søstrene Grene without her. Thank you for the video though, it brought back lovely memories of the time I spent with her.
Love it when you take us out with you, that little shop was great. The little bee cups are so cute, I might have to get them. Hope you feel better soon x
Nothing like window shopping to lift the spirit. Makes for a really nice outing. Flea markets are fun too! Thank you Catherine for sharing this video with us! Have a great week!
I love how you straightened the paints. 😉👍
I truly enjoy your travels thank you for sharing your experience ❤️
Oh my, the teddy bears!! Love, love, love!
Your teddy bears are so cute! I could imagine buying one for a newborn as a keepsake❤. I had a jewelry business back before I had my kids-I sold on Etsy and at craft shows/fairs. I swear the amount of $ I sink into the business I never truly made a profit but it was fun and we always ended a craft fair day with a nice cold pint at a local bar in Philadelphia. I miss those days! I looked up both Sostrene Grene and Sass and Belle and sadly they don’t ship to the US-I get it…😂. I love all of the cute things you shared with us today!
Hi Catherine! For a couple years I had a stall in a vendor market where I sold my crafts made from old books/book pages. So while my materials were relatively cheap, I couldn’t charge enough to compensate for the amount of time I was putting in, which, combined with the stall rental cost, made it unsustainable. The sheer volume of things I had to create also pretty much took the enjoyment out of it. It’s wonderful that by giving up on that phase, you moved into something so much more amazing, and also that we get to share it with you 🥰
Lots of beautiful things take care of yourself 😊
I liked the reddish dress with the white wicker bag at the charity shop. Looked so fresh and summer -y. Love when we go shopping. Take care and a cheeky 👍👍👍👍. Love ya dgirl ,take care.❤
I was on a roadtrip with friends years ago and found the perfect hat. I didn’t buy it and now when I’m torn about buying something they say “remember the hat”! The hat has become part of our lore. 😂
Roadtrip!! Wahoo
Thank you for showing us around, dear Catherine.🙏 The shops were great! I liked the beautiful pictures and the coffee service and the plates very much.🥰🙋♀️
Lovely video Catherine as always 🎉🎉🎉
This store with the very reasonably priced crafts and such is a dangerous treasure box. I'm thankful I'm not there. The tiny ceramic birds at 21:55 would be lovely little package tie-ons. So sweet! Thank you for taking us along. Feel better! Cheers!
Hi Dainty, what a lovely day out in such a beautiful shop . Definitely going to head there this summer for the day .Love walking around Dun Laoghaire on a sunny day then hopping on the train back to the south east. I love making crafts for people for gifts ,candles , embroidered items and knitted cardigans and hats for my grandchildren. I get all the joy of making them and then gifting them to family and friends. Love from the southeast 💚☘️
The measuring bowls are so sweet! I would have picked up the blue floral teacups/saucers, and a vintage cookbook and the book on Ireland (of course!) Always fun on a jaunt with you, Catherine! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for taking me on a fantasy shopping spree. Enjoyed the day tremendously. My fantasy self was buying lots of art supplies and some of those knickknacks were so sweet. Spent lots of money, teehee. What a beautiful city and the sky was so blue. Have a wonderful day, hugs 🫂 to my favorite YouTuber!❤
