What is The Dark Urge in Baldur's Gate 3?

Instructions unclear, started first playthrough as Dark Urge.

I'm gonna be the goodest dark urge. Which is more virtuous? To be born pure and good? Or to overcome your evil nature with great effort, determination, and willpower. Edit: so many haters. Like yeah skyrim wasn't that great but it has a lot of memorable characters and moments. Outside the gameplay and story, skyrim is fine and fun. I will say baldurs gate is objectively better than skyrim. But skyrim is for people that want to walk around and be retarded not really play the game. Putting pot on people's head and all that.

I like it how so many people will miss out on the Dark urges story because they decide to play them as just a murder hobo, instead of someone dealing with and fighting against a terrible fate.

Dark Urge gives a very interesting twist to a Good playthrough because you’ll find you’re having to constantly fight yourself to be a good person.

I think the Dark Urge is more about giving the player character their own problems the way everyone else in your party has. Karlach and Gale essentially have bombs in their chests, Wyll struck a deal with a demon and then there's the PC, whose probably lived a life so depraved that now their in a position where the player can turn them back to the dark side again or help them become a better person.

Adding to this. Dark urge not recommended for coop unless you want to go dark path or resist most, if not all urges.

I finished the game yesterday as the Dark Urge. Why fight the big baddie when you can become the big baddie?

Dark Urge is the intended protag for me. Resist path is extremely engaging.

Durge can be seen as the "canon" version of Tav, or at least that's a decently accepted consensus. It's why he can't be a companion like the other origins, he is NOT meant to be a secondary protag/antag like the rest of the cast. He is built from the ground up to be the main character. The reason Tav is the main option though is so that you can still make a character with the history and past life that you so decide. Tav is the roleplay experience, Durge is the canonized version. I honestly love that way of designing this, because it means we don't have another Abdel Adrian being made the generally canon character.

I played it on my 1st playthrough and man... the Dark Urge storyline was amazing. I started evil but slowly turned good by the end of the game. And the plot twist from being evil to good by the end - it was absolutely incredible 👏
