This happened to me once as a DM when I gave one my players a haunted pirate ship that could change its shape like rooms and stuff but their first thought was to get the ghosts to turn the entire ship into a giant crab mech. I said that he had a roll a Nat 20 in order for it to work and with no advantage rolled it and now we have a Crab Mech laying siege to a castle in the next session
