0:39 honestly It’s the guaranteed job for me
I'm thinking about this right now. I've got one week to decide to go or not because it starts, and my main reasons for doing it are 1) structure: I'm completely new to coding and time is important to me - I can't risk dilly dallying on my own at this point 2) credibility - this may be the most important reason, I'm finding that without some professional designation it's hard to get even considered for a job 3) this bootcamp is offering a payment plan split over 24 months, about 11k total in Canadian dollars, which isn't that pricey if you factor in inflation I'd love to hear your thoughts on my perspective :-)
Is there a discord or a place I can network with people.
Please do provide step by step with the links on how to start to be like you
Here, at Mexico city has a meetup named "Adopt a CTO". Basically many many startups or some business do job offers about IT"s and they try to convince you to work with them. It's a great oportunity to get a job as a self programmer
Do you currently have a job after being a self taught developer?
I'm considering visiting Le Wagon in germany but you really get me rethinking it. I've heard many times that you're pretty much on your own in a bootcamp. Which has its pros and cons because it prepares you to always stay hustle-learning. So as far as it seems to me it really comes down to is 1. the difference of having a team environment in a bootcamp so that you learn how to work in one whereas you are just on your own if you're self taught and 2. the job network. But on that matter one can lookout and get a recruiter I guess. What is you position on that? And as far as it seems to me all the common self taught programs are guiding one on the way to a portfolio, doesn't they? Or did I miss there something?
No teach yourself
Hi new sub here. I’m currently doing web development on code academy. They are going to launch front end, back end and, full stack next week. My question how long should I use code academy since they hold my hand through the process? What blogs do you read?
Glad I stumbled in your channel. Im a finance undergrad, realized business values more time-in the company over skill and want to make a career change. I've been looking and learning about programming because I also love creating and it has been hard to find where to start, since I don't really want to go back to college and get another undergrad.
Telling it like it is! I dropped out of my coding bootcamp a week into it. Went back to self taught <— even though I feel like I’m still being taught by someone else in my Udemy course 😆
Well done, Dorian! Very Insightful.
hi! just found your channel and really enjoying the videos! i have one question about laptops: do i need dedicated gpu or not? also do i need thunderbolt ports? for coding
I never attended a bootcamp, nor do I have a CS degree. I have a degree, but it is a BSc in International Relations. Been programming as a hobby since childhood, and half a year ago landed my first job as a middle backend developer. The major advice from my experience would be being prepared for frustration, but remember that there is always light on the other end of the tunnel. To win on the road of a self taught developer you have follow that goal like a madman, no matter what.
Hi Dorian I made my first portfolio website. could you just take a look and give me some pointers, plus it could be some good content for your channel.
Would you recommend being a self taught programmer? I’m planning on becoming a full stack developer. And also? Small side track, you’re a fantastic YouTube. Earned a subscriber with this one.
Thanks for the video. Weighing the pros and cons right now. The only pro I can think of for a boot camp is networking opportunities. How did you build your network with the self taught route?
Wow you are an underrated youtuber
🔥🔥🔥
You made it! It did really help me making my decision.. Thanks buddy 👊
