At 55 and a half years old, I embarked on a journey into cybersecurity, despite having no prior coding experience. My new teacher discouraged me, telling me I was wasting my time and money simply because I was eager to learn and asked a lot of questions. He even criticized me for taking too many notes. The program was meant to last 18 months, but I completed 9 so far, maintaining an impressive 96% average—pretty good for someone who started with little computer knowledge and is older than the typical student. I’m certain this teacher pushed out our regular instructor by discrediting her, just so he could take over after his contract ended and secure extra work. But here’s the truth: coding is a valuable skill, and it will help me and other students build a strong foundation. If I can do it, so can you! Keep going—you've got this!
