I will be there to see it on Friday. I don’t care what the critics say or what the controversies are.
I saw the movie. It's actually really good. Packed with topics, never boring, covering so many years, being extremly accurate. It's like kind of a character study. And with personal topics like - abuse at the hand of a parent - body dysmorphia - extreme loneliness (because of the extent of fame) - the loss of a childhood - near death burn-incident they delve into more than I thought they would. There were times when some people actuallly shed some tears and there were times when some actually danced in the aisles.
Jaafar is incredibly talented. He nails the moves and the voice. It's INSANE his performance.

I really hope that this movie does Michael Jackson and his story justice. I've seen my fair share of disappointing biopics recently, namely "Back to Black" and "One Love."
I'm waiting until the movie is out to make my judgment. If it's true that they're making a part 2 to the movie, the story would have been better as a miniseries.

I see there’s a lot of misinformation, and the film is being criticized for not addressing “the issue.” The movie was originally shot with the idea of making a 3-hour film, but the estate (the company that manages Michael Jackson’s assets) did not properly inform either the family or the production company. What didn’t they inform them about? That the family who accused Michael Jackson of abuse in 1993 made him sign an agreement stating that neither party could speak about the matter or dramatize it in films or documentaries. When they showed the movie to the estate, they said: “Hey, this can’t be included in the film.” So they had to rewrite the script and shoot new scenes. They decided to make a first part covering up to 1988. And for the second part, if it’s successful—although Universal has already confirmed it. These are my own theories: in the second part, they will use scenes that have already been filmed and can be shown (Colman Domingo accidentally leaked some makeup test photos of Jaafar Jackson portraying Michael at different stages of his life, including the ’90s and 2000s). It’s known that there are scenes of Michael Jackson taking medication and talking about his addiction. This is known because, before the reshoots, there was a private screening with a trailer that has only been shown twice to the press. The trailer isn’t available, but descriptions suggest the film was going to be more hard-hitting. I found this information because I’ve been following the project since filming began, but if you don’t believe me, I can provide official sources.
