Sponsor: Thermaltake TR200 WS mATX Case on Amazon https://geni.us/bviRvG In the news this week, we talk Bambu Lab and its legal threat sent to a third-party developer of open source software, plus GN's plans to deep-dive into Bambu Lab's shady behaviors. We also go over the plunge in consumer hardware and computer hardware sales (with a trailer for our upcoming special report), AMD's negative projects for the gaming industry as it gets into bed with data centers, Switch 2 price hikes, and residents paying billions for data center power buildouts. Additionally, the FCC router ban has some changes to the firmware update schedule, but none to the core ban itself. You guys are doing amazing things for the community, in fact, multiple communities! I too, as a member of the internet, computing enthusiasts, gamers and many more, am doing the best I can to fight back. These are OUR spaces, that we came together to create and we should stand for them and fight back. Much appreciation to all of you.
Snapmaker U1 is also very good for the price and so far they followed up with open source requirements. I backed the kickstarter. Got my printer half a year ago and I am really satisfied. There are alot of uses for toolchangers other than just multi color printing. I now always print my support out of support material (I use pla to support petg or tpu or petg to support pla). And the printer is surprisingly good with flexibles. Downside is that its not enclosed and the official enclosure with activated charcoal filters only comes out in a few months.
31:14 and this, ladies and gentlemen, is one of just many reasons we keep on comin' back X'D <3 ~a random canadian subscriber dude
You are an awesome man / channel for supporting the creator of the Bambu software! Please keep us in the loop on this topic, and let us know how we can fund any litigation to defend the software, or even better go on the offence and create some precedent to beat future companies over the head with!
I didn't know about the orca slicer untill the Cease & Desist to Pawel Jarczak came up. Streisand effect at work again, thanks for the publicity, Bambu Lab!
Thanks for the trailer. I can't wait to watch the full documentary
Thanks for reducing harm and noise. You show help my hardware live longer :)
Just bought my first 3d printer last week and after much deliberation I didn't go with the Bambu. I would've been DEVESTATED to see this title had I went with my friends advice 😮💨 Thanks for all you do Steve and GN staff!
Even though im a Voron guy myself can confirm, Prusa has always supported the 3D printing community.
There are options like Voron (open source hardware LDO providing one of the best kits) and Sovol (consumer friendly Voron based kit)
I so much respect you guys so much for standing up for pavel in this case, and other cases.
26:21 for those who are technically inclined, the Voron project is also quite good. Prusa's printers are expensive for the specs you get but are quite good, and the company very much has a "yes do as you need to this equipment"
Thanks Steve & Co!~!
:30 when he said they don’t know where the bottom is at yet, gave me chills 😬 As someone who finds the way things move around the world (commerce) interesting, that is scary to hear.
It's almost like the insane inflation on basic food means less money left over for the ultra insane PC hardware inflated prices.
I’m still on AM4 - 5800X3D with 6950 XT. I want to move to AM5 but the cost involved right now don’t warrant the expense.
If memory and GPUs are priced at 3x what they should be, people are going to postpone their purchases, and that means none of the other components will sell, either. But look on the bright side: in exchange we're getting several warehouses full of parts that "AI" companies _pretend_ to be using, plus a lot of slop videos, AI "search" hallucinations and crappy automatic translations (because why pay a human $20 to do something when you can get a bot to _pretend_ to do the same thing for free, while helping to inflate Nvidia / Anthropic / etc. share prices?). Enshittify your expectations: reality is going to be a lot worse.
youve built what has become a very significant channel that benefits us many common folk. well done. 🏆
purusa is legit they wiill be my next printer.
We are truly in the worst possible timeline right now
