I'd assume one of the best things in subnautica is: finally being able to fight back against the very things that attacked you since day 1.

Dear Editor, Your untouched joke was not missed, and might be the funniest subtle joke I’ve ever seen. Please do more

This game has the bizarre effect of being simultaneously homely and familiar while still also being ass-clenchingly terrifying

That untouched reference at 42:43 was iconic

I’m both relieved and frustrated by the fact jack plays exactly like I do. I’m just glad he’s so patient with himself, because I have none for myself during streams lol

Something about how the colony people talk about NOA with disgust and anger, versus how NOA talks about them with what's almost fondness really adds to the story for me.

Taking two oxygen tanks is great, I learned it accidentally in the first game, and I’ve been doing all my runs since, works in this game too, it’s gotten me pretty far

Can we take a moment and appreciate all the diff way's your base can have light?! that's the one thing OG Subnautica needed!

I swear NOA is convinced you're playing a dating sim the way he introduces each crewmate

One thing I like about this game over the first, is that all of the little ‘niche’ tools are actually a lot more useful in this game, like the flare (to distract predators), and the air bladder (more oxygen, and quick access to surface), etc. It feels a lot more intentional and much more useful than in the first game where you’d rarely use them cause quite frankly you wouldn’t need to, and you’d have access to better gear faster. I think it works with the pacing of this game well, because it’s clear that we won’t be using this items for the whole game, but for the early game they’re clearly very effective.

the fact that NoA talks in such an unusually contemplative or sometimes uhhh. idk. hrm poetic/flowery way, as if it finds real charm in humans way of thinking is such a fun contrast to the story being built around it also the PDA voice calling it obtrusive and persistent is a rlly funny thing. my two ai assistants who hate each other

1:17:20 - Yeah, this game is made in Unreal Engine, and the system you are talking about is actually the Lumens system. It helps a ton with realistic lighting, and it is fully built into the engine so it is mostly just about adding the correct post processing.

13:11 the main reason for early access is to get player feedback. Whether that be changes people want implemented or bugs/glitches that need to be fixed.
